Job Description: Advisor - Academic Institutions
Reports To Board of Trustees
Job Purpose:
To provide strategic guidance, academic leadership, and advisory support to ensure excellence in teaching, research, governance, and overall institutional development across academic institutions under the group/university.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Academic Advisory:
- Advise on academic policies, curriculum frameworks, and pedagogy to align with national/international standards.
- Guide institutions in accreditation, rankings, and regulatory compliance (NAAC, NBA, UGC, AICTE, international bodies).
- Recommend new programs, courses, and research areas based on industry and societal needs.
- Provide expertise in faculty development, research culture, and student-centric learning.
Governance & Institutional Development:
- Support the governing council/board in policy-making and governance.
- Review institutional performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Advise on collaborations with national/international universities and industry partners.
- Mentor academic leaders (Deans, HODs, Principals) to strengthen leadership pipelines.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and statutory requirements.
- Guide institutions in preparing for audits, inspections, and accreditation visits.
- Recommend systems for monitoring academic quality, student outcomes, and faculty performance.
Research & Innovation:
- Promote research excellence, innovation, and knowledge transfer.
- Advise on establishing research centers, incubation hubs, and industry partnerships.
- Support grant proposals, funding opportunities, and global research collaborations.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a key liaison between management, faculty, students, and regulatory bodies.
- Build academic partnerships with universities, research councils, and industry leaders.
- Represent the institution at academic forums, government bodies, and international platforms.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong academic background with proven leadership in higher education.
- Deep understanding of regulatory bodies (UGC, NAAC, AICTE, international standards).
- Strategic thinking, policy development, and institutional governance.
- Ability to mentor academic leaders and guide organizational transformation.
- Excellent communication, networking, and negotiation skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 20+ years of academic/administrative experience in reputed universities/colleges.
- Proven track record in academic leadership, governance, and institutional development.
- Experience in international collaborations, research, and accreditations preferred.
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators):
Accreditation scores and rankings achieved (NAAC/NBA/NIRF/international).
New academic programs introduced and successfully launched.
Faculty development initiatives and retention of top talent.
Growth in research output (publications, patents, funded projects).
Successful industry/university partnerships established.
