Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the company complies with all applicable tax laws and regulations while participating in key month-end financial close processes and reporting tasks.
Overall Role & Responsibility:
- Prepare and submit tax returns and compliance filings.
- Develop and manage global tax and compliance processes.
- Resolve tax notices, and advise on tax planning and strategy.
- Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries for various tax and non-tax related accounts.
- Reports to the Assistant Corporate Controller.
Essential Tasks:
Tax & Regulatory Compliance:
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely tax returns, ensuring compliance with Federal, international, state, and local tax laws.
- Maintain accurate tax records and documentation.
- Stay up to date on tax law changes and their impact on the business.
- Collaborate with other departments and third-party tax professionals.
Compliance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor tax compliance processes, identify potential risks and issues, and report on tax compliance performance.
- Prepare income tax provision and other external audit & statutory tax reporting support schedules.
- Manage and complete regulatory filings for indirect taxes including sales & use, value added taxes (VAT), goods & services taxes (GST), property, and franchise taxes.
- Support payroll and labor tax compliance efforts by third-party payroll tax providers.
Tax Research and Interpretation:
- Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations, interpret complex tax regulations, and ensure the organization adheres to compliance requirements.
- Receive and timely resolve tax notices from taxing authorities.
Tax Audits:
- Coordinate with tax authorities on audits and ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline tax compliance activities and reduce risk.
- Develop and implement tax compliance policies and procedures.
Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Support annual budget and quarterly tax planning & analysis.
- Advise on tax planning strategies, including identifying tax-saving opportunities and minimizing tax liabilities.
- Identify and manage tax-related risks.
- Participate in tax planning projects.
Other Corporate Accounting:
- Calculate and post income tax journal entries in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 740, Income Taxes) and other international GAAP standards.
- Perform assigned month-end corporate account reconciliation and analysis tasks which may include income taxes, indirect taxes, accruals, prepaid assets, lease accounting, intangibles, and fixed assets.
- Prepare income tax disclosures for the annual US GAAP group audit in accordance with ASC 740, Income Taxes and various statutory audits.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Equivalent of a USA bachelors degree in accounting.
- USA Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or International Chartered Accountant (CA) license.
- 6-12 years of professional tax accounting experience; preferably including 2-3 years with a global CPA firm.
- Strong understanding of the United States of America and international tax laws and regulations including India, United Kingdom, and Philippines.
- Experience managing third-party professional service tax and CPA firms to research and summarize tax laws, regulations, and compliance procedures.
- Experience with tax software and reporting systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
PROFICIENCY WITH THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS IS A PLUS:
- Sage Intacct.
- Avalara Tax.
- Microsoft Office & Related Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Power BI).
- Vena.
- Salesforce and Salesforce Billing.
