Job Description: Zonal Sales Manager (ZSM)

Role Summary:
The Zonal Sales Manager (ZSM) will be responsible for driving primary and secondary sales, expanding distribution, managing distributor and stockist networks, and ensuring strong market execution across Bengaluru, KA. The role requires a hands-on sales leader with strong FMCG background in Personal Care, Hygiene, Food, or Beauty categories.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Achieve zonal sales targets (primary & secondary sales) across assigned geography
- Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual business plans aligned with company objectives
- Expand market share in key FMCG categories
Distribution & Channel Expansion
- Appoint, manage, and strengthen distributor and super-stockist networks
- Ensure deep market penetration in urban and semi-urban clusters
- Improve product availability across GT, MT, and modern trade channels
Team Management
- Lead and mentor Territory Sales Officers (TSOs)/Sales Executives
- Set performance KPIs and ensure daily/weekly productivity tracking
- Build a high-performance field sales team culture
Market Execution
- Ensure effective in-store execution, visibility, and merchandising
- Implement trade promotions and monitor ROI of schemes
- Conduct regular market visits and competitor tracking
Trade & Channel Relationships
- Build strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and key accounts
- Negotiate trade terms, credit, and promotional inputs effectively
Reporting & Analytics
- Track sales MIS, secondary sales data, and distributor health
- Provide actionable insights on market trends and competition
- Ensure timely reporting to National Sales Head
Required Candidate Profile
Industry Background: Candidates must come from FMCG industry, preferably in Personal Care, Hygiene, Beauty/Cosmetics or Food & Beverages background.
Experience
- 5-7 years of FMCG, General Trade sales experience
- Proven track record in distributor-led sales models
Education
- MBA / PGDM preferred (Sales/Marketing)
- Any graduate with strong FMCG experience
Key Competencies:
- Result-oriented and target-driven mindset
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen
- High ownership and field orientation
- Ability to work in fast-paced, growth-stage FMCG environment
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience in launching or scaling FMCG brands
- Exposure to Karnataka / South India markets preferred
- Strong understanding of rural + urban distribution mix
