Role & responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Zonal Collections Manager will be responsible for driving collections performance and managing delinquency across all buckets for Machinery / Equipment Finance (primary focus), Loan Against Property (LAP), and other secured lending products within the West Zone. The role involves strategic oversight of field collections, NPA management, legal recoveries, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and audit standards while improving collection efficiency and asset quality.

Key Responsibilities

Collections & Delinquency Management

- Manage delinquency across all buckets (Early, Mid, Late, and NPA) for Machinery / Equipment Finance, LAP and other secured portfolios.

- Drive achievement of zonal collection targets through effective bucket-wise, vintage-wise, and region-wise monitoring.

- Focus on improving collection efficiency, roll-back ratios, and reduction of GNPA/NNPA levels.

- Track and closely monitor high-ticket and weak accounts, ensuring timely corrective actions.

Field Collections & Team Management

- Ensure timely and accurate allocation of cases to Regional Collection Managers (RCMs) and Collection Managers based on geography and vintage.

- Conduct regular field visits with RCMs and field teams to review ground-level challenges and improve recovery outcomes.

- Drive productivity of in-house and outsourced field collection teams.

NPA & Legal Recoveries

Lead recovery of NPA accounts through structured strategies including:

- One-Time Settlements (OTS)

- Legal proceedings under SARFAESI Act, Section 138, DRT, and other applicable recovery mechanisms.

- Coordinate with legal, empanelled advocates, and resolution agencies to ensure timely progress on legal cases.

- Ensure recoveries are in line with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.

Process, Controls & Compliance

- Identify early warning signals (EWS) in accounts and initiate timely resolution to prevent slippages.

- Ensure strict adherence to audit norms, internal policies, and regulatory guidelines.

- Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with RBI and internal credit & collections frameworks.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

- Drive collection performance through daily MIS, dashboards, and periodic reviews.

- Analyze trends and propose actionable insights to improve recovery performance.

- Present regular performance updates to senior management.

Strategy & Capability Building

- Develop and continuously update the zonal collection strategy and roadmap, aligned with business goals.

- Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions to strengthen skills, product knowledge, and policy understanding.

- Build a strong performance-driven culture within the zonal collections team.

Preferred candidate profile

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong understanding of Machinery / Equipment Finance collections

- Expertise in secured lending recoveries and legal processes

- Ability to manage large, geographically spread teams

- Strong analytical, MIS, and stakeholder management skills

- Excellent negotiation and resolution capabilities

- High focus on compliance, controls, and asset quality

Qualification & Experience

- Graduate/Postgraduate in Finance, Management, or related field

- 12-20 years of experience in NBFC/Banking collections

- Minimum 5+ years in managing zonal or regional collections, preferably in Machinery / Equipment Finance

- Hands-on exposure to legal recovery frameworks and NPA management
