Job Purpose:

The Procurement Manager is responsible for planning, sourcing, negotiating, purchasing, and managing the supply of raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, merchandising materials, indirect goods, and services required to support both manufacturing operations and FMCG sales activities. The role ensures cost-effective procurement, uninterrupted supply, quality compliance, supplier performance, and inventory optimization while contributing to the company's profitability and customer service objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement:

- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company's manufacturing and commercial objectives.

- Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality and service standards.

- Develop category sourcing strategies for raw materials, packaging, finished goods, transport, marketing materials, and indirect spend.

- Monitor commodity prices, exchange rate movements, and market trends to mitigate procurement risks.

- Establish contingency sourcing plans to minimize supply disruptions.

Supplier Management:

- Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and onboard local and international suppliers.

- Build long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers.

- Conduct supplier performance evaluations based on quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, and compliance.

- Lead supplier audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Manage supplier contracts and ensure adherence to agreed service levels.

Manufacturing Procurement:

- Ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, spare parts, and production consumables.

- Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Planning teams to support manufacturing schedules.

- Coordinate procurement activities to minimize production downtime.

- Ensure purchased materials comply with quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements.

Commercial & Sales Support Procurement:

- Manage procurement of promotional materials, point-of-sale (POS) items, uniforms, branded merchandise, and marketing materials.

- Support Sales and Marketing teams during product launches and promotional campaigns.

- Ensure timely availability of materials supporting trade promotions and customer activations.

Inventory & Supply Planning:

- Collaborate with Demand Planning, Production Planning, Warehouse, and Sales teams to optimize inventory levels.

- Balance stock availability with inventory carrying costs.

- Reduce obsolete and slow-moving inventory.

- Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.

Cost Control & Financial Management:

- Develop procurement budgets and forecasts.

- Deliver measurable annual procurement savings.

- Monitor procurement expenditure against budget.

- Conduct total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses for major purchases.

- Ensure accurate purchase price variance reporting.

Contract & Compliance Management:

- Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and service level agreements.

- Ensure procurement complies with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.

- Maintain procurement documentation for audit purposes.

- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.

Logistics & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Coordinate with Logistics and Warehouse teams to ensure timely deliveries.

- Work with Finance to manage supplier payments and resolve invoice discrepancies.

- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to support business priorities.

- Participate in new product development by sourcing new materials and suppliers.

Leadership & Team Management:

- Lead and develop the procurement team.

- Set departmental objectives and monitor performance.

- Build procurement capabilities through coaching and training.

- Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Reporting & Performance Management:

- Prepare monthly procurement reports for senior management.

- Monitor procurement KPIs and supplier scorecards.

- Analyse procurement data to support strategic decision-making.

- Identify process improvement opportunities through procurement analytics.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.

- Professional qualification such as CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent is highly desirable.

- Membership of a recognized procurement professional body is an advantage.

Experience:

- Minimum of 10 years' experience in procurement or supply chain management within an FMCG manufacturing environment. MNC would be highly preferred.

- At least 4 years in a leadership or managerial role.

- Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract management, and inventory planning.

- Experience procuring both manufacturing inputs and commercial support materials is preferred.
