Role Overview:
The Lead Ecommerce Strategy will lead strategic commerce thinking across WPP Media's Commerce clients, shaping how brands win across ecommerce marketplaces, quick commerce, retail media, niche platforms, and emerging commerce ecosystems. The role is responsible for translating complex platform, consumer, and commercial dynamics into clear strategic frameworks, growth roadmaps, and whitepapers..
Sitting at the intersection of commerce strategy, retail media, data & technology, and strategic consulting, this role partners closely with senior client stakeholders, platform partners, and cross-agency leadership. The individual will play a critical role in driving category leadership, commerce media strategy, profitability, and scalable commerce transformation for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- New business/pitches - Lead and convert pitch ratios for FMCG clients.
- Existing clients - Lead commerce strategy development for our clients, including annual growth roadmaps, category expansion strategies, and FMCG playbooks
- Platforms - platform-specific playbooks across marketplaces, quick commerce, and other commerce formats.
- off platform - how to integrate and create synergy between online and off platform platforms
- Translate consumer behaviour, platform mechanics, and retail media signals into actionable strategic recommendations that drive market share, profitability, and brand equity.
- Develop and own commerce POVs, strategic frameworks, and thought leadership to guide client decision-making and internal best practices.
- Partner with data & product teams to embed advanced analytics, measurement frameworks, and AI-enabled solutions into commerce strategy and client deliverables.
- Work closely with activation, creative, and media teams to ensure strategic intent is consistently reflected in execution and business outcomes.
- Identify white-space opportunities across platforms, categories, and capabilities to unlock incremental growth for clients.
- Support new business pitches and strategic expansions, shaping differentiated commerce narratives and solutioning.
