State Lead - Meghalaya What You'll Do: WorldBeing is initiating an exciting collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya to build processes for integrating mental wellbeing and emotional resilience within state institutions. The success of this systems change initiative depends on building relationships and working collaboratively with government education systems. As our State Head for Meghalaya, you will be leading the initiative in the state- you will be work closely with the Department of Education and the Office of the Development Commissioner to drive the vision, develop strategy and action plans for the successful implementation of the initiative. You will also oversee and manage all program specific operations, leading the state team to ensure alignment with the goals of the initiative and the organisation. The role requires strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and relationship management. Key Responsibilities: Government Partnerships and Networks: - Develop and manage strategic partnerships with the state government departments, relevant government institutions to create a state specific strategy for the system integration of wellbeing and resilience. - Facilitate partnerships/collaborations and agreements with relevant civil society partners, state institutions, universities to create a network of support and advocates in the state. - Lead negotiations and formalization of agreements with relevant government and other stakeholders. Representation, Communication & Positioning: - Strengthen WorldBeing's presence and visibility in the state through strategic communication and engagement and represent the organisation at the state level in various government, NGOs, civil society and other forums. - Build ownership by advocating for the initiative with state and district policymakers, ensuring alignment with goals of the State. - Secure necessary permissions from state and district authorities for implementation - Provide timely updates to state and district authorities regarding program progress and impact. - Document all meetings, agreements, and interactions with stakeholders to maintain comprehensive records. Program Management & Implementation: - Lead the strategic planning and execution of action plan in the state - Develop detailed implementation plans for all projects, ensuring timely achievement of deliverables and goals. - Supervise and mentor the state team, ensuring effective execution of program activities, training, supervision, and monitoring. - Conduct field visits to assess implementation quality and impact. - Identify capacity-building needs of staff and facilitate appropriate training and support. - Ensure effective execution of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities. - Track and analyse program performance using relevant indicators, working closely with the M&E team. - Prepare and submit accurate reports to internal and external stakeholders, including donors and headquarters. - Ensure timely documentation and reporting of program outcomes, challenges, and impact Human Resources & Organizational Culture: - Ensure all state-level staff understand and align with WorldBeing's values and philosophy. - Conduct regular staff briefings, ensuring awareness of organizational policies and guidelines. - Oversee staff recruitment, performance evaluation, and disciplinary processes as needed. - Foster a supportive and inclusive work culture within the state team. Finance & Administration: - Manage state budgets, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure cost effectiveness. - Ensure compliance with financial policies, donor requirements, and internal accountability standards. Key Qualifications & Skills: - Master's degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field with at least 15 years of relevant experience. - Proven experience in leading state programs in collaboration with the government - Strong stakeholder management, advocacy, and public representation skills. - Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. - Effective communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and in a diverse and dynamic environment. - Experience of leading collaborative programs in the assigned state, and familiarity with state-level policies and frameworks related to education, preventive and promotive mental health, and life skills development will be preferred. This position is ideal for a dynamic leader passionate about driving sustainable change in mental wellbeing at the state level.
