What's Wiom?

92% of Indians don't have unlimited home broadband. Enter Wiom.

Wiom is a new-age internet platform that buys unused internet from existing users and sells it to people looking for affordable, high-quality internet. For the next 100M households without unlimited, high-speed home internet, Wiom is the most aspirational 24-hour unlimited internet solution. Unlike traditional service providers, Wiom offers daily plans, zero upfront costs and roaming internet, and its shared-economy, platform approach makes it highly scalable and affordable.

Wiom was founded by IIT and IIM alumni with prior experience at companies like Microsoft and American Express, and is backed by marquee investors including 3one4 Capital, Omidyar Network, YourNest and Auxano. We are the fastest-growing company in our space and aim to impact 500 million Indians over the next five years.

Why this role

This is not a "keep the books clean" job. As Finance Controller, you will own the full controllership charter at Wiom: the audits, the control framework, the monthly close and MIS, the company's tax strategy, and the diligence that sits behind every fundraise and partnership. You will work directly with the Head of Finance and leadership, and your work will show up in investor conversations and board decks.

- Real ownership: a complete charter, not a slice of one.

- Visibility: your MIS and analysis feed leadership and investor decisions every month.

- Build, don't just run: design controls and processes for a company that is scaling fast.

- Strategic exposure: tax strategy and due diligence are rarely handed to someone at this stage of their career.

What you will own

1. Statutory and internal audits:

- Lead the end-to-end charter for statutory audit: planning, timelines, schedules, auditor coordination and closure of observations.

- Run the internal audit programme: define the annual audit plan and scope with the Head of Finance, coordinate with internal auditors, and drive action on findings across functions.

- Keep the company audit-ready at all times, with clean documentation and audit trails.

2. Internal controls across processes:

- Design, document and monitor controls across key processes: procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, payroll, treasury, fixed assets and partner settlements.

- Maintain the risk and control matrix, and test controls periodically for design and operating effectiveness.

- Identify and plug revenue and expense leakages; strengthen approval matrices and delegation of authority.

- Partner with business, product and tech teams so controls are built into systems and workflows, not bolted on afterwards.

3. Monthly close, MIS and financial statements:

- Own a timely and accurate month-end close: accruals, provisions, reconciliations, inter-company and fixed asset capitalisation.

- Prepare monthly MIS for leadership and investors, with variance analysis and commentary that explains what moved and why.

- Prepare financial statements under Ind AS / Schedule III, and drive continuous reduction in close timelines.

- Bring automation and better tooling to the close and reporting process.

4. Tax strategy:

- Lead the tax strategy for the company across direct and indirect tax, including structuring, planning and evaluating the tax impact of new business models and transactions.

- Oversee GST, TDS and income tax compliance, working with external consultants to ensure accurate, on-time filings.

- Manage assessments, notices and litigation, and keep leadership informed of tax risks and exposures.

- Track regulatory changes and translate them into clear actions for the business.

5. Financial and legal due diligence:

- Manage financial and legal due diligence for fundraises, strategic partnerships and any M&A activity.

- Own the data room: prepare information packs and respond to diligence queries from investors, advisors and counterparties.

- Work with legal counsel and company secretarial teams on contracts, corporate records and compliance health checks.

What success looks like in your first year:

- Statutory audit closed on time with no significant observations carried forward.

- A documented control framework in place across key processes, with internal audit findings tracked to closure.

- A faster, predictable monthly close and an MIS that leadership relies on.

- A clear tax strategy with known exposures identified and managed.

- A diligence-ready company that can open a data room on short notice.

What makes you a great fit

- Qualified Chartered Accountant with 3 - 6 years of post-qualification experience in controllership, audit and taxation.

- Experience at a Big 4 or mid-size audit firm followed by an in-house role (startup or high-growth company preferred).

- Hands-on command of Ind AS, the Companies Act, GST and income tax.

- Has led or closely supported statutory audits and has exposure to due diligence or fundraise processes.

- Comfortable with cloud accounting tools (Zoho Books or similar) and keen on automation.

- Clear communicator who can explain the numbers to non-finance stakeholders and push back when needed.

- Thinks like an owner: proactive, structured and comfortable with ambiguity.
