Role Overview:

We are looking for a Director of Engineering - Full Stack to lead and scale engineering teams building high-quality, scalable, customer-centric products.

The Role:

As Director of Engineering, you will provide technical and organizational leadership across multiple engineering teams. You will work closely with Product, Design, Data, and Business leaders to define technology strategy, deliver high-impact products, and build a strong engineering culture. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong depth across backend, frontend, APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and modern web technologies, along with demonstrated experience managing and developing engineering leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead, mentor, and grow multiple engineering teams and engineering managers.

- Define and execute the engineering strategy and technology roadmap in partnership with Product and senior leadership.

- Own the architecture, scalability, reliability, security, and performance of critical product areas.

- Drive the development of modern full-stack applications across frontend, backend, APIs, and data layers.

- Establish strong engineering practices around design, development, testing, code quality, CI/CD, observability, and production reliability.

- Lead architectural decisions and technical reviews for complex, large-scale systems.

- Partner closely with Product and Design to translate business and customer requirements into scalable technical solutions.

- Drive engineering execution, planning, prioritization, and delivery across multiple teams.

- Build a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

- Develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders and build a strong leadership pipeline.

- Ensure teams effectively balance feature development with technical debt, scalability, reliability, and platform investments.

- Champion automation, developer productivity, and effective use of modern engineering and AI-assisted development tools.

- Participate in hiring, organizational design, performance management, and talent development.

- Evaluate emerging technologies and drive adoption where they provide meaningful business or engineering value.

Technical Scope:

- The ideal candidate should have strong experience across several of the following:

- Backend: Java, Python, Go, Node.js or similar modern backend technologies

- Frontend: JavaScript/TypeScript, React or equivalent frameworks

- Architecture: Distributed systems, microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, caching, search, and high-scale data systems

- Cloud: AWS, GCP, Azure or equivalent cloud platforms

- Databases: Relational and NoSQL databases, data stores, caching and messaging systems

- DevOps & Reliability: CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, observability, monitoring, SRE practices

- Engineering Quality: Automated testing, code reviews, secure development practices, performance engineering

- Experience building and operating high-scale, highly available SaaS products is highly desirable.

What We're Looking For:

- 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant experience in engineering leadership.

- Experience leading multiple engineering teams and engineering managers in a product/SaaS environment.

- Strong full-stack engineering background with the ability to engage deeply in both frontend and backend architecture.

- Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems and customer-facing products.

- Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering fundamentals, scalability, performance, and reliability.

- Demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into technical strategy and execution plans.

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

- Experience hiring, mentoring, and retaining high-performing engineering talent.

- Strong product mindset with a focus on customer impact and business outcomes.

- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while maintaining engineering quality and long-term technical vision.
