About the Role We are seeking a Tax Sr. Manager to lead our tax function and provide strategic inputs to the Founders,Board, Executive Leadership Team and Business Functions of our company. The ideal candidate will serve as a key contributor to the finance and compliance functions, ensuring timely and accurate management of all direct and indirect tax matters. This role demands a Chartered Accountant (CA) with 712 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a fast-paced or high-growth environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adept at interpreting evolving tax laws, and can proactively manage risks and opportunities across tax functions. 1. Why is it required (need for the role) Hiring a Senior Tax Manager is essential when an organization reaches a level of complexity, scale, or risk exposure that demands strategic tax leadership. Here are the key reasons why we should consider hiring a Senior Tax Manager: - Growing revenue, M&A activity increases the complexity of direct and indirect tax matters. - Senior-level internal oversight is needed to ensure accurate compliance, risk assessment, and efficient tax structuring. - A seasoned tax leader can proactively manage the companys tax position, reduce the effective tax rate, evaluate tax-saving opportunities/tax planning, and provide direction for long-term tax optimisation aligned with business strategy. - The role will support the implementation of tax process automation, SOPs, and tax-risk frameworks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors. - Handle Tax Assessments & Management, Litigation Management and lead and close audits, manage disputes,and represent the company before authorities. - Team & Stakeholder Management: Build a skilled tax team, manage advisors, and maintain strong engagement with auditors and tax officers. 3. Essential Experience required for the role: (3-4) a. Total Experience: 7-12 years, including positions as Tax Head or N-1. b. Direct Taxation: Minimum 5 years of experience in Income Tax, Corporate Tax, and Transfer Pricing. Practical knowledge of handling taxation wrt to corporate restructuring. c. Indirect Taxation: Hands-on experience with GST compliance, including return filings (GSTR-1, 3B, 9, etc.), input credit reconciliations, and e-invoicing. d. Team and Stakeholder Management: Minimum 3-5 years experience i. Leading or mentoring junior tax staff or consultants. ii. Working closely with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Sales, Operations). iii. Comfort in advising CXOs on tax risks and implications. 4. What are the key skills required for the role: Functional Skills: Must have - Transactional Expertise: Expertise in handing corporate restructuring (e.g. merger / demerger etc) exercise from a taxation point of view. - Direct Tax Compliance: In-depth experience in Income Tax, Corporate Tax, and Transfer Pricing. Ability to interpret Income Tax Act, Rules, Notifications, Circulars, Case Law. - GST Tax Compliance: : Hands-on experience with GST compliance, including return filings (GSTR-1, 3B, 9, etc.), input credit reconciliations, and e-invoicing - Tax Accounting: Tax provision workings (MAT/Deferred Tax), tax ledger reconciliations, and audit schedules. - Tax advisory to business: Ability to assess tax impact of business transactions and provide strategic input. - Training &Knowledge Sharing: Ability to conduct internal training or create awareness on tax policy changes.
