Role Summary:
The Sales Engineer is the primary technical partner to the Sales team, owning customer-facing technical engagements across the sales lifecycle - from discovery and demos to proposals, PoCs, and solution defense.
This role requires strong hands-on expertise in observability, the ability to deploy and demonstrate the platform, and the skill to articulate how VuNet differentiates in complex, real world enterprise scenarios.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement:
- Partner closely with Sales to drive technical success from discovery to deal closure
- Lead technical discussions with CIO/CTOs, IT leaders, SRE, and Architecture teams
- Conduct solution discovery to understand customer systems, workflows, and pain points
- Act as a trusted technical advisor during evaluations and buying decisions
Platform Demos & Hands-on Enablement:
- Deliver compelling, scenario-driven demos aligned to customer use cases
- Deploy and configure the VuNet platform for demos and PoCs
- Demonstrate end-to-end observability across infrastructure, applications, logs, and transactions
- Showcase differentiation through real-life scenarios such as payments, lending, and digital banking workflows
Proposals, RFPs & Technical Defense:
- Own technical inputs for RFPs, RFIs, proposals, and SOWs
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to validate scope and feasibility
- Present architecture, deployment models, and solution approaches
- Lead technical defenses and proof points during evaluations
Competitive Intelligence & Market Awareness:
- Track and analyze competing platforms (Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic etc.)
- Maintain competitive positioning and field-ready battlecards
- Monitor industry trends in observability, AIOps, OTel, and cloud-native systems
- Provide structured feedback from the field to Product and GTM teams
Internal Enablement & Product Feedback:
- Enable Sales and Partners through technical training and demo playbooks
- Act as the voice of the customer into Product Management
- Influence product evolution, messaging, and solution packaging
Required Skills and Experience:
Technical Expertise:
- 6-8 years of experience in Pre-Sales, Solutions Engineering, or Technical Consulting
- Strong hands-on experience with observability platforms (Logs, metrics & traces)
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture with experience in deploying enterprise platforms
Domain & Industry Exposure:
- Experience working with BFSI customers is a strong advantage
- Understanding of transaction-intensive systems such as payments, digital banking, or lending platforms
Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent presentation and storytelling skills
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value
- Comfortable engaging with both technical teams and senior executives
- Strong documentation and proposal-writing capabilities
Preferred Background:
- Prior experience at observability or monitoring companies such as Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic, AppDynamics, Elastic, or similar
- Experience in consultative, platform-led enterprise sales environments
