Role Objective:
The DGM / Senior Manager IoT Product Management will be responsible for driving the end-to-end strategy, development, and execution of IoT products and solutions. This role involves building and scaling the IoT product vertical, defining the long-term roadmap, ensuring consumer-centric innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver market-leading connected experiences. The ideal candidate should possess a strong blend of business acumen, technical expertise, and strategic leadership within the IoT ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership and Product Vision:
- Define and own the IoT product strategy aligned with overall business objectives and market trends.
- Identify high-impact opportunities within the IoT ecosystem (smart devices, connected homes, wearables, edge devices, etc.).
- Build the IoT product vertical from the ground upestablishing frameworks, processes, and KPIs for sustained growth.
- Evaluate new technologies (AIoT, edge computing, 5G integration, low-power networks) to ensure long-term competitiveness.
2. Consumer and Market Insights:
- Conduct deep analysis of consumer behavior, adoption trends, and pain points across IoT product categories.
- Use data-driven research (primary and secondary) to identify unmet customer needs and innovation opportunities.
- Benchmark against industry leaders and emerging startups to define differentiated product positioning and value propositions.
- Maintain ongoing awareness of IoT regulations, interoperability standards, and cybersecurity considerations.
3. Product Definition and Lifecycle Management:
- Translate insights into concrete product requirements, specifications, and design concepts.
- Drive the complete Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processfrom ideation to launch to phase-out.
- Define and maintain the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business and technical priorities.
- Partner with hardware, firmware, and software teams to develop seamless, secure, and scalable connected experiences.
4. Go-to-Market Planning and Execution:
- Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, sales, marketing, supply chain, finance, and legal) to deliver successful product launches.
- Develop comprehensive go-to-market (GTM) strategies including positioning, pricing, launch plans, and channel enablement.
- Establish launch milestones, deliverables, and success metrics to ensure execution excellence.
- Collaborate with marketing to craft compelling product stories, technical collateral, and consumer communication strategies.
5. Market Benchmarking and Competitive Analysis:
- Continuously analyze market trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies.
- Apply advanced analytics to assess market share, adoption rates, and consumer satisfaction.
- Recommend strategic adjustments to roadmap and pricing based on competitive intelligence.
6. Team Development and Leadership:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IoT product management team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
- Drive operational excellence through well-defined processes, metrics, and agile practices.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- IoT product adoption and market penetration.
- Customer satisfaction and retention (NPS, CSAT).
- Product profitability and ROI.
- Time-to-market and delivery efficiency.
- Innovation index (number and impact of new features/technologies integrated).
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: MBA and/or B.Tech in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience: 7-10 years of total experience with significant exposure to IoT product management, consumer electronics, or connected ecosystems.
Technical Understanding:
- IoT architectures, communication protocols (MQTT, CoAP, BLE, Zigbee, LoRaWAN).
- Cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT).
- Data analytics, AI/ML for IoT insights, and edge computing principles.
- Cybersecurity and device management frameworks.
Preferred: Experience in building IoT-enabled consumer products (e.g., smart appliances, wearables, or connected homes).
