Vallurupalli Nageswara Rao Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (VNRVJIET) is a private engineering college in Hyderabad, India recognized by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) and affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.

Undergraduate programs- CE, EEE, ME, ECE, CSE, EIE and IT in the institute are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) New Delhi, since 2008. The institute has Autonomous Status till 2028-2029 A.Y. granted by UGC.

Job Description:

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for leading the institution's digital and technology
strategy, ensuring that the IT infrastructure robustly supports teaching, research, administration, and
innovation. The CTO plays a pivotal role in bridging academics with IT services, driving digital
transformation, and integrating emerging technologies to enhance institutional effectiveness and
academic excellence

Activities and Tasks:

1. Technology Strategy & Vision:

- Develop a technology roadmap aligned with the academic and institutional goals.

- Promote digital transformation in teaching, learning, administration, and research.

- Evaluate and implement new technologies (e.g., AI tools, EdTech platforms, LMS, cloud computing).

2. IT Infrastructure Management

Oversee the design, maintenance, and upgrade of:

- Campus network (LAN, Wi-Fi)

- Data centers and servers

- Computing labs

- AV systems in classrooms

- Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of IT systems.

3. Academic Technology Support

- Support faculty and students with tools for online learning, simulations, MOOCs, and virtual labs.

- Coordinate implementation and training on LMS platforms (like Moodle, Google Classroom, etc.).

- Facilitate smart classroom and virtual learning environments.

4. Cybersecurity & Data Management

- Establish policies for data privacy, cybersecurity, and access control.

- Protect institutional data (student records, research data, etc.) from breaches or loss.

- Implement backup and disaster recovery systems.

5. Research & Innovation Support

- Provide computing and software infrastructure for faculty research.

- Facilitate access to high-performance computing, cloud-based tools, and software licenses (e.g., MATLAB, Ansys, AutoCAD, etc.).

- Support interdisciplinary research initiatives involving technology.

6. Administrative Automation

Support and upgrade ERP systems for admissions, finance, exams, and HR. Encourage digitization of college operations (paperless office, biometric attendance, digital records).

Work closely with departments to develop or integrate custom applications.

7. Team Management & Development

- Lead and mentor the IT team, network engineers, and support staff.

- Organize training programs for staff and faculty on emerging tools and platforms.

- Maintain a helpdesk or support system for day-to-day IT issues.

8. Liaison & Compliance

- Coordinate with academic bodies like AICTE, UGC, NBA, NAAC for technical requirements.

- Ensure compliance with government data security, software licensing, and procurement norms.

- Liaise with vendors and external consultants for procurement, implementation, and support.

9. Roles in Innovation & Entrepreneurship

- Support student startups and innovation/incubation labs with tech infrastructure.

- Guide in selection of platforms for prototyping, app development, cloud hosting, etc.

- Assist in managing Tech Hubs, Tinkering Labs, or Industry 4.0 Centers.

- This offer is on an exclusive basis, which implies that other professional assignments (whether compensated or not) that bear a potential conflict of interest with VNR VJIET cannot be undertaken. The search will remain open until the position is filled.

Location - This position is based in Hyderabad and may entail travel to other locations in India.

Review and Assessment

The role and performance of the incumbent shall be subject to normal review and assessment systems
at VNR VJIET.
