Role Objective: To lead and manage end-to-end Solid Waste Management operations across Collect-Transport, Processing, Disposal, and Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facilities. The role carries full P&L accountability, multi-city operational governance, workforce leadership, contract & stakeholder management, and environmental compliance responsibility across a large-scale portfolio. Scale of Responsibility: Annual Business Size: - 1,000+ Crore operational portfolio Workforce Strength: 4,000+ personnel (direct + indirect) Assets & Facilities: C&T Fleets, MRFs, RDF/Composting Plants, Landfill sites, & Waste-to-Energy Plants Multi-city / multi-site project management responsibility Key Responsibilities: 1. Operational Leadership: - Lead and oversee daily operations of Collection & Transportation, Material Recovery Facilities, Sanitary Landfills, Processing Units, and WtE facilities. - Ensure high equipment uptime, fleet efficiency, route optimization, and resource utilization across all operational zones. - Standardize operating procedures and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and sustainability KPIs. 2. P&L Ownership: - Own and drive business profitability, operational efficiency, cost optimization, and revenue realization. - Prepare and review annual budgets, operational MIS, performance dashboards, and business forecasts. - Ensure execution within approved budgets and targeted EBITDA margins. 3. Project Execution & Expansion: - Manage commissioning, scale-up, and stabilization of new SWM & Waste-to-Energy projects. - Coordinate with EPC teams, engineering consultants, OEM suppliers, and technology partners. - Track project timelines, risks, contractual deliverables, and mobilization plans. 4. Stakeholder & Government Relationship Management: - Act as the primary interface with Municipal Corporations, State Pollution Control Boards, Urban Local Bodies, Government Departments, and Concession Authorities. - Manage contract negotiations, SLA compliance, timely billing, and dispute resolution. - Represent the company in public forums, review meetings, and regulatory interactions. 5. Environmental Compliance & Sustainability: - Ensure strict adherence to Solid Waste Management Rules (2016), environmental clearances, air & water quality norms, and emissions standards for WtE. - Drive sustainability goals such as recycling rate improvement, resource recovery, and carbon impact reduction. - Implement operational risk management systems across all sites. 6. Leadership & Workforce Management: - Lead and develop a high-performing team structure across GMs / AGMs / Managers / Supervisors / Field Workforce. - Implement training, performance evaluation, capability development, and workforce engagement programs. - Ensure labor relations stability and contractor workforce governance. Candidate Profile Requirements: Experience: - Minimum 20+ years of leadership experience in Solid Waste Management / Waste-to-Energy / Environmental Utilities / Large Industrial / City Infrastructure Operations. - Must have led large-scale, multi-site operations with workforce size of 3,000+. - Proven P&L and contract management experience is mandatory. Education: - B.E / B.Tech in Environmental / Civil / Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial Engineering. - Master's degree in Environmental Management / Sustainability / Operations / MBA preferred.
