Role Summary:
The VP of Product & Innovation is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction, execution excellence, and cross-functional innovation of the company's fintech product portfolio. This role requires a leader who can bridge the gap between organisation, technology, compliance, and customer experience. The ideal candidate is already operating at a VP-equivalent level, with demonstrated experience overseeing product management, data-driven lending solutions, and enterprise-wide innovation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategy (Define the "What" & "Why")
- Define and own the long-term product roadmap for digital lending, embedded finance, or banking products across multiple markets (e.g., US, India).
- Identify market opportunities based on regulatory trends (e.g., US Digital Lending Guidelines, RBI norms), customer behavior, and competitive landscape.
- Partner with data science and risk teams to integrate organisation principles - using alternative data, machine learning models, and real-time underwriting to drive product decisions.
- Establish product-market fit for new innovations such as BNPL, instant loan disbursal, or credit-building tools.
2. Execution (Deliver the "How" & "When")
- Lead end-to-end product development from ideation to launch, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Manage a team of Product Managers, Product Owners, and UX designers across multiple squads.
- Balance speed of delivery with strict fintech compliance requirements (e.g., KYC, AML, data privacy, consumer protection laws).
- Define and track key performance metrics including loan approval rates, default rates, customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), and feature adoption.
3. Cross-Functional Innovation (Bridge the Gaps)
- Drive innovation by bringing together product, engineering, compliance, risk, legal, marketing, and sales teams to solve complex fintech problems.
- Lead initiatives that combine organisation with customer-centric design - e.g., building an AI-driven credit assessment model that reduces bias while improving approval rates.
- Champion experimentation through A/B testing, pilot programs, and rapid prototyping in sandbox environments.
- Work with external partners (banks, payment gateways, regulators, fintech vendors) to co-create new capabilities.
