About the Firm:
Our client is a global investment banking and advisory firm recognized as an industry leader in the valuation of alternative and illiquid investments for investment funds, including business development companies (BDCs), hedge funds, and private equity groups. The firm also advises on valuation matters for corporate transactions, including acquisitions and divestitures, leveraged buyouts, restructurings, recapitalizations, related party transactions, and for general tax, accounting, litigation, and regulatory purposes.
Role Overview:
The firm is seeking a Vice President to join its Valuations & Opinions Group. The selected individual will work closely with senior leadership and clients in providing valuation and financial advisory services across multiple engagements and global offices. This is a fast-growing practice offering a highly entrepreneurial environment where driven professionals can play a pivotal role in expanding the platform and contributing to client success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead project teams delivering valuation and financial advisory services to clients, including determining appropriate valuation methodologies and reviewing financial models for illiquid debt and equity investments, business enterprise valuations, and hedge fund/private equity valuations.
- Provide quality control oversight on engagement teams.
- Manage, train, and develop associates and analysts.
- Identify and communicate potential engagements to management, and support business development by preparing proposals and engagement letters.
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years experience in portfolio valuations (debt and equity) and valuation of illiquid and complex securities.
- Proficiency in financial modeling for DCF, market multiple, market transaction, and option pricing analyses.
- Ability to develop valuation approaches for diverse securities and unique instruments, including equity, debt, loans, derivatives, structured products, and intangibles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to understand key business drivers and investment risks.
- Solid understanding of credit and M&A markets.
- Proven experience managing teams of associates and analysts.
- Familiarity with authoritative valuation guidance (ASC 820, IFRS 13) and industry best practices.
- Ability to serve as a primary client contact and manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Competence in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics, or an MBA from a reputed institution.
- CPA, ASA, and/or CFA preferred but not mandatory.
