The VP - Plant Operations shall serve as the strategic leader overseeing the end-to-end production lifecycle. They will work closely with the executive leadership team, plant managers, and cross-functional department heads to ensure seamless integration between production, maintenance, and quality assurance.
Primary impact focus will be on driving operational efficiency, optimizing throughput in the rolling mill, and maintaining a high-performance culture that meets stringent safety and output targets while also managing upcoming projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct all manufacturing operations, to ensure alignment with organizational volume and quality targets.
- Spearhead current operations along with projects; managing timelines and budgets to expand plant capacity or upgrade existing infrastructure.
- Oversee comprehensive maintenance strategies, focusing on predictive and preventive measures to minimize downtime and maximize equipment longevity.
- Implement process excellence initiatives to reduce waste, improve yield, and lower the cost of production across all shop-floor activities.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers and plant personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Manage quality control systems to ensure all finished steel products strictly adhere to national and international industry standards.
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement stakeholders to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and the efficient dispatch of finished goods.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale steel operations with a deep understanding of metallurgical processes and plant machinery.
- Proven ability to lead complex manufacturing projects from conceptualization to commissioning, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage large workforces and influence cross-functional stakeholders in a high-pressure environment.
- A degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is preferred, complemented by a track record of managing plant-wide P&L responsibilities.
- 18 - 25 years of progressive experience in the steel or similar industry, with a significant portion spent in senior leadership roles.
