The incumbent should have at least 3 years, preferably 5+ years, of direct responsibility for project-level/operating-level profitability, with the ability to demonstrate how operational decisions have contributed to protecting or improving project margins.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project & Operations Leadership:

- Independently oversee an annual project portfolio of approximately upto 250 Crore or above.

- Drive performance across planning, engineering coordination, procurement, contracts, construction, billing, quality, safety and commercial functions.

- Ensure achievement of project milestones, billing targets and contractual commitments while maintaining the required standards of quality, safety and client satisfaction.

2. Cost & Profitability Ownership:

- Own and drive project-level profitability and operating margins across the project portfolio.

- Prepare, review and monitor project budgets, cost-to-complete projections, cash-flow requirements and profitability forecasts.

- Continuously identify opportunities for cost optimisation across labour, materials, plant & machinery, subcontracting, logistics and site overheads.

- Monitor budgeted versus actual costs and take timely corrective measures to prevent cost overruns and margin erosion.

- Demonstrate a strong track record of protecting and improving project margins through operational interventions, rather than depending solely on Commercial or Finance teams.

- Drive productivity improvements and ensure optimum utilisation of manpower, machinery and other project resources.

3. Resource Mobilisation & Industry Network:

- Possess a strong industry network and demonstrated ability to mobilise resources at short notice based on project requirements.

- Maintain established network for labour deployment, subcontractors, specialised agencies, vendors, equipment, machinery and other construction resources across multiple geographies.

- Ensure rapid mobilisation of manpower and resources for new projects as well as additional deployment for projects requiring acceleration.

- Develop and maintain a reliable network of contractors, vendors and manpower agencies.

- Resolve manpower and resource bottlenecks without adversely affecting project timelines, quality or profitability.

4. Project Planning & Delivery:

- Establish project execution strategies, master schedules, mobilisation plans and resource plans in coordination with Project Heads.

- Review project progress against planned milestones and proactively intervene wherever delays, cost overruns or execution risks are identified.

- Drive timely certification, billing, collections and closure of contractual/commercial issues in coordination with concerned functions.

- Ensure timely completion, commissioning and effective handover of projects.

5. Design Coordination:

- Lead design coordination and establish operational design strategies to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and execution-ready designs aligned with project objectives and organizational goals.

6. Commercial & Contractual Management:

- Maintain strong oversight of project commercials, subcontractor packages, variations, claims, extra items and contractual obligations.

- Ensure additional works, variations and scope changes are appropriately documented, commercially evaluated and billed.

- Work closely with Procurement, Contracts and Commercial teams to negotiate commercially viable packages and improve project contribution margins.

- Identify potential commercial risks at an early stage and ensure appropriate mitigation measures.

7. Client & Stakeholder Management:

- Act as the senior operational interface with Clients, PMCs, Consultants and other key stakeholders.

- Build client confidence through predictable project delivery, transparent communication and timely resolution of critical issues.

- Manage client and PMC escalations effectively while protecting the organization's contractual, commercial and reputational interests.

- Build and strengthen strategic client relationships to drive customer satisfaction, repeat business, and long-term partnerships.

8. Team Leadership & Accountability:

- Lead Regional Head, Project Directors/Project Heads/Managers and cross-functional site teams across multiple locations.

- Establish clear accountability for timelines, billing, cost, profitability, quality and safety at each project.

- Conduct periodic project performance, cost and profitability reviews with Regional/Project Heads.

- Build strong second-line project leadership and create a performance-driven and accountable operating culture.

- Ensure Project Heads take ownership not merely for execution but also for the commercial and financial performance of their respective projects.

EXPERIENCE & ELIGIBILITY

Mandatory Qualification:

- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Mandatory).

Preferred: Certification or specialization in Contract Management and/or Project Management.

Mandatory Requirements:

- Come from a reputed EPC or Construction company, with strong preference for Industrial/Warehousing construction experience.

- Demonstrate the ability to independently manage client and PMC relationships at a senior level.

- Demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing teams, with the ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent while creating a strong leadership pipeline.

- A confident, entrepreneurial, and energetic leader with a stable and composed approach, capable of thriving in a high-growth environment while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and work ethics.

Preferred Experience:

- Experience in handling geographically dispersed projects across India will be an added advantage.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The candidate should be comfortable spending significant time at project sites and personally intervening to resolve critical operational, commercial and resource-related bottlenecks.

Most importantly, the candidate must have a demonstrable track record of converting project execution into profitable business performance, with clear evidence of:
