Job Title: Vice President - New Business Development (NBD)

Role Overview:

The Head of New Business Development will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing new business opportunities to drive growth and diversification for the company. This role requires strong industry insight, strategic thinking, and the ability to build partnerships, enter new markets, and develop new product lines within the chemical sector.

Key Responsibilities:


- Identify new business opportunities in specialty chemicals, intermediates, or adjacent markets


- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and feasibility studies


- Develop short-term and long-term business growth strategies


- Lead development of new products aligned with market demand


- Identify emerging trends, technologies, and customer needs


- Evaluate potential for backward/forward integration


- Drive strategic alliances, joint ventures, and partnerships


- Explore market entry opportunities domestic & international


- Build relationships with key customers, distributors, and industry stakeholders


- Identify high-value clients and new segments


- Work closely with sales and technical teams to convert opportunities


- Lead techno-commercial evaluations of new projects


- Prepare business cases, investment proposals, and ROI analysis together with finance team


- Coordinate with R&D, production, finance, and regulatory teams


- Collaborate with R&D for innovation pipeline


- Drive revenue from new businesses/products


- Monitor KPIs related to business growth, margins, and ROI


- Report progress to leadership with actionable insights

Key Skills & Competencies:


- Strong understanding of chemical industry (specialty chemicals preferred)


- Strategic thinking and market insight


- Techno-commercial acumen


- Excellent negotiation and partnership-building skills


- Business case development


- Leadership and stakeholder management


- Strong communication and presentation skills

Qualifications:


- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering / Chemistry and MBA (preferred)

Experience


- 25 years of experience in chemical industry


- Minimum 5+ years in business development / strategy roles


- Proven track record of launching new products or entering new markets
