The Reporting Production team is responsible for producing the financial statements for M&G Insurance reporting. The reporting team has responsibility for financial, statutory and regulatory reporting. The Ledger close production team plays a pivotal role in the timely and accurate closure of financial ledgers, which is essential for the subsequent analysis and reporting of Financial Statements for Insurance Reporting. A vacancy has arisen to lead the ledger close production team. The lead role is responsible for overseeing the entire ledger close process, ensuring the timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in line with established accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The individual in this position will coordinate the efforts of the team to finalize manual journal entries, late adjustment journals, conduct thorough account reconciliations, and validate the integrity of financial data. Responsibilities: - Responsible for the General ledger close process in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions related to premiums, claims, expenses, bank and accounts payables - Maintain the statutory ledgers and sub-ledgers for the assigned M&G insurance entities - Review balance sheet reconciliations/calculations to support the accuracy and completeness of manual journals - Communicate issues and discrepancies identified and potential solutions to senior stakeholders - Ensure compliance with current accounting standards and Insurance procedures to maintain a robust financial control regime - Responsible for ensuring internal controls are effective, compliant and timely with applicable standards and regulations. - Foster a collaborative environment and ensure staff adhere to financial policies and procedures - Identify and implement improvements to the ledger close process to enhance efficiencies and accuracy - Manage the transition and continued compliance with finance change projects - Manage and support external audit process for areas of responsibility Experience: Previous experience in a Finance Operations function or ledger management for a Life Insurer Educational Qualification: Chartered accountant qualification (CA) or the equivalent
