We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic General Manager / Vice President to lead and oversee expansion projects including Rolling Mills, SMS, CCM, Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF), Basic Oxygen Furnaces (BOF), and other allied steel-making facilities. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, erection, and commissioning of integrated steel plant projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution aligned with business objectives.
ESSENTIAL & DESIRABLE SKILL SETS:
- Strong technical knowledge of Rolling Mill, SMS, CCM, EAF, BOF, and other integrated steel-making processes.
- Proven expertise in erection, commissioning, and project planning of steel plant projects.
- Exposure to Greenfield and Brownfield projects, with experience in large-scale expansions.
- Working knowledge of civil and structural works relevant to steel plant construction (foundations, structural steel, etc.).
- Ability to prepare and monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Effective coordination with consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal teams.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage large cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of modern project management tools and practices.
- Familiarity with cost control, risk management, and contract negotiation.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
- Proficiency in project management software (MS Project / Primavera P6) and MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for planning, reporting, and analysis.
- Working knowledge of SAP (MM / PM modules) for procurement and material management.
- Familiarity with reviewing plant layouts and equipment drawings using AutoCAD / Navisworks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Planning & Execution:
- Lead and manage large-scale steel plant expansion projects from concept to commissioning.
- Prepare and implement detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Oversee erection, installation, and commissioning of Rolling Mills, EAFs, BOFs, and auxiliary equipment.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure timely execution.
- Conduct project reviews and progress monitoring, reporting regularly to management.
Technical Guidance & Compliance:
- Provide technical direction and resolve engineering challenges during erection and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Optimization & Leadership:
- Optimize project planning to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Mentor and guide project teams, engineers, and contractors.
