Job Description:

Role Overview:

As the VP Finance, you will be responsible for leading company's finance function across financial controllership, accounting, compliance, taxation, treasury, audits, financial planning and business finance.

You will build scalable finance processes, strengthen governance, partner with business leaders on strategic initiatives, and ensure financial excellence as the company continues to scale.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can seamlessly balance operational rigour with strategic thinking while working closely with founders, investors, auditors and cross functional leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Leadership & Controllership:

- Develop and implement robust financial systems, processes and internal controls that support the company's rapid growth and scalability.

- Own the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

- Drive continuous improvements in accounting policies, governance and financial reporting quality.

- Lead statutory audits, internal audits and financial due diligence exercises.

- Ensure timely MIS reporting, financial reviews and audit closures.

2. Compliance, Taxation & Governance:

- Oversee all direct and indirect tax compliances including GST, TDS and Income Tax.

- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, FEMA, RBI regulations and other statutory requirements applicable to a regulated fintech.

- Strengthen internal financial controls and enterprise risk management processes.

- Partner with legal, secretarial and external advisors to ensure complete regulatory compliance.

3. Treasury & Cash Management:

- Manage treasury operations, liquidity planning and cash flow forecasting.

- Optimize working capital and capital allocation strategies.

- Build strong relationships with banking partners and financial institutions.

4. Strategic Finance & Business Partnering:

- Think strategically and proactively to drive finance initiatives aligned with business objectives.

- Partner with founders and business leaders on budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.

- Build meaningful financial dashboards, KPIs and business insights that enable better decision-making.

- Support strategic initiatives including fundraising, expansion opportunities and financial due diligence.

5. Stakeholder Management:

- Manage relationships with investors, Board members, Big 4 auditors, banks and regulatory authorities.

- Present financial information clearly and confidently to both technical and non technical stakeholders.

- Coordinate seamlessly across internal teams to ensure alignment on financial priorities.

6. Process Excellence & Automation:

- Drive finance transformation through automation, ERP optimization and AI-enabled finance processes.

- Improve reconciliation, reporting and operational efficiency across the finance organization.

- Build scalable finance operations that can support Open's continued growth.

7. Team Leadership:

- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance organization.

- Manage and inspire a team of 20+ finance professionals.

- Foster a culture of ownership, excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For:

- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory. MBA or additional finance qualifications are an advantage.

- 15+ years of progressive finance experience with strong controllership responsibilities.

- Proven experience building finance systems, processes and controls from the ground up.

- Strong experience in financial reporting, audits, MIS, treasury and tax compliances.

- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, act proactively and independently drive financial initiatives.

- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging investors, auditors, banks and senior leadership.

- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

- Experience leading teams of 20+ members.

- Strong analytical skills with a focus on process improvement and automation.

Preferred:

- Prior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm.

- Experience in venture-funded start-ups, fintech or high-growth technology companies.

- Experience in SaaS/B2B technology organizations.

- Exposure to fundraising, investor reporting and board management.

- Experience working in a regulated financial services environment.

- Familiarity with RBI regulations and the digital banking ecosystem.
