About the Role:

The Head Credit Risk Management is senior role whose holder should be a Credit professional responsible for ensuring that the Credit Risk function achieves its objectives of facilitating prudent risk management, revenue generation, managing impairment, improving the risk control environment & culture & delivery of business enablers within Credit Risk & related departments within the Company

Key Roles & responsibilities:

- Oversee the identification, assessment, & mitigation of credit risks across Organization portfolio. Ensure credit policies & procedures are robust, aligned with regulatory requirements, & support the organization's strategic objectives.

- Maintain quality of credit portfolio, optimize risk reward balance, & foster a culture of prudent risk management. Minimize risks in Portfolio Management by prudent lending, monitor key financial metrics & regularly review loan book performance indicators to identify concerns from credit decisions/ portfolio mix or concentration.

- Providing day-to-day & long-range strategic direction for the Credit Risk function related to all product lines & adjacent areas within Risk & Business functions

- Creating, implementing & administering Organization Credit Risk strategies, policies, procedures, credit approvals, portfolio management, portfolio reporting, etc

- Responsible for providing leadership for successful goal attainment in credit & risk mitigation areas across all product lines & departments to ensure safety & soundness while optimizing profitability & sustainable growth of organization.

- Monitoring credit portfolio to ensure full compliance with core principles of good lending enshrined in the Credit Policy, regulatory guidelines, & early recognition of problem credits so as to mitigate against credit risks within the Company.

- Providing leadership of the Credit Risk team to provide

- Credit risk management input to the Company, efficient & timely credit service, resolving customer complaints &

- Contributing towards achievement of the objectives of the department & the Company.

- Own the Predictive models deployed in the Credit Risk function like EWS model, ECL model, Country Risk model etc., ensure that model health is maintained at all times, validations are done as per the required frequency in line with Company policies & regulatory requirements & work towards continuous improvement of these models

- Overseeing the development & implementation of new models like the Credit Risk Scorecard, Future Income Forecast model, etc. followed by continuous monitoring & dissemination through the Company for achieving the desired outcomes

- Spearheading the quarterly audits with respect to ECL & other financial metrics; liaise with auditors & other functions like Finance & Treasury for timely closure of the audits with minimal adverse observations

- Ensure that all policies, documentation, SOPs related to the models are up-to-date & approved by the relevant Committees of the Board, as per the desired frequency

- Ensure necessary controls are in place to address risks encountered during the credit life cycle from origination, evaluation, documentation, account management & collections, by conducting periodic quality sample checks of Credit files.

- Ensure all Regulatory & Compliance issues are tracked & closed on time for the unit.

- Contribute in setting the risk appetite & ensure exceptions are reviewed & tracked to ensure they are operating within approved standards.

- Track all credit related projects & work with internal & external resources to ensure timely delivery

- Track the visa & immigrations norms across the key study locations (on & ongoing basis) & effectively communicate the changes across the Company along with the business implications for timely action

- Ensuring meeting compliance objectives for audit & regulatory inspection outcomes as per annually defined targets.

- Adopting & developing a network of strong partnerships with the Business & Business Support teams & other functions of the Company, particularly decision makers & influencers.

- Oversee the remedial management process entailing - collection of portfolio at risk; - recovery of non-performing accounts; - collaborating with the Legal & Collections teams in recovery actions to achieve defined recovery & rehabilitation targets.

- Liaise with Technology department & external vendors (if applicable) for automation of Credit Risk tools/ solutions including but not limited to ECL automation solution, RAS automation, etc

- Provide credit application-based coaching & discussions with the Credit Risk, Credit, Business & Business Support teams where appropriate to ensure effective development & delivery of bespoke risk solutions for customers.

- Proactively initiate & contribute to embedding agreed change management initiatives in support of process & quality improvements, cost reductions & development of people.

- Invest in continuous & comprehensive understanding of the local market, key clients, key study locations, local market conditions & the capabilities & practices of competitors

- Supporting Business & Business Support teams in structuring of new & complex credit/ product proposals to ensure the highest standard of credit quality of credit applications.

- Provide input into business development, risk appetite formulation, credit process development & credit policy development where appropriate.

- Evaluate all credit proposals within the delegated mandate & those of the Board Credit Committee mandate & make appropriate recommendations.

- Prudent portfolio monitoring which includes coordinating the Management Credit Committee, overseeing the preparation of portfolio reports to Board, Board Risk Management Committee, Assets & Liabilities Committee, Management Credit Committee & other Board & Management committees as per the Company's governance structure. This includes preparation of portfolio reports/packs for Management Committees, Board Committees & Regulatory authorities

- Preparation of periodic credit stress tests for the Management & Board Credit Committee to examine quantitative impact on bottom line & capital levels based on different scenarios.

- Implementation of all decisions from the Board, Risk Management/ Audit Committees of the Board & MD & CEO's office, among others

- Ensure the Organization compliance with all regulatory requirements in the areas of credit, including compliance with lending limits, concentration, non-performing assets, classification, provision & writing off of debts.

- Participate in the continual review & update of the Organization credit policies, guidelines & practices in line with changes in credit risk & the Company's business priorities.

- Develop & implement talent plans incorporating the right staffing mix, succession & plans for professional & career development.
