Job Location: Kolkata

We are looking for a seasoned and strategic Leader in the role of VP-Operations. This leadership role will be responsible for driving the overall business strategy, ensuring P&L ownership, and enabling scalable growth across multiple categories, channels, and functions. The role will directly manage senior leaders including the seller org, buyer org, vendor management & other stakeholders.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

- Full ownership of the e-commerce P&L, including revenue growth, cost control, gross margin, and contribution margin targets.

- Develop and execute annual business plans, category-level strategies, and new initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.

- Identify new market opportunities, customer segments, and product strategies to drive sustainable growth.

- Manage and mentor Category Heads and their teams, ensuring alignment with business priorities.

- Oversee all category level decisions related to product assortment, pricing, promotion strategy, and inventory planning.

- Drive collaboration across functions including inventory, vendor relations, finance, and logistics.

- Spearhead performance and growth across marketplace.

- Optimize product visibility, fulfilment, and promotions to drive traffic and conversions.

- Build scalable SOPs for supply chain, procurement, inventory management, order fulfilment, and returns.

- Monitor and improve KPIs such as fill rate, customer satisfaction, buy-sell margin and brand support towards events.

- Identify, assess, and mitigate business risks across legal, financial, operational, and reputational domains.

- Ensure compliance with e-commerce regulations, taxation norms, data protection policies, and brand guidelines.

- Lead a growing team with a strong emphasis on ownership, agility, and customer-centric execution.

- Drive talent development, performance reviews, and succession planning for leadership roles within the e-commerce vertical.

- Leverage business analytics to derive insights on customer behaviour, category performance, and pricing impact.

- Drive continuous improvement using dashboards, KPIs, and structured performance reviews.

Educational Qualification:

CA / MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree preferably from Tier-1 institutes.

Work Experience:

- Minimum 12 years of experience in business leadership roles, preferably in e-commerce, digital retail, or consumer tech environments.

- Proven track record in managing large-scale teams, complex P&L structures, and driving high-growth businesses.

Skills:


- Deep understanding of online marketplaces, digital commerce, and category management.

- Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and accountability.

- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, resource-constrained setting.

- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.

- Robust network with brands, vendors, and marketplace players.
