Vice President - Business Development (PE/VC Firms)

Job Description:

A leading law firm is looking for an ambitious professional and an excellent communicator to drive institutional relationships and business development efforts with Private Equity (PE) and Venture Capital (VC) firms.

Qualifications:

Education: MBA or Chartered Accountant (CA) from a reputed institution

Experience: 8 to 12 years of experience in PE/VC-focused business development, investor engagement, fundraising, corporate strategy, or client-facing roles

Preferred Background: Non-lawyer with strong commercial acumen and deep understanding of the investment ecosystem. Consulting background is a plus.

Role Overview & Responsibilities:

Relationship Management & Origination:

- Build, nurture, and grow strategic relationships with key decision-makers across leading PE and VC firms in India and globally.

- Map the PE/VC landscape and identify new prospects across early-stage, growth, and buyout funds.

- Partner with senior leadership to align service offerings with evolving investor needs.

Business Development & Growth:

- Lead efforts to get new work from private equity and venture capital clients

- Understand emerging trends in investments, sectors of interest, and proactively align services to these themes.

- Work with internal practice teams to craft tailored solutions and proposals.

Client Engagement & Market Presence:

- Plan and execute sector-specific roundtables, PE-focused roadshows, knowledge events, and closed-door discussions to build visibility and relevance.

- Drive thought leadership in the PE/VC space in collaboration with the firms content and marketing teams.

Internal Collaboration:

- Serve as the interface between business services and the legal/partner teams for PE/VC client needs.

- Enable cross-sell opportunities by working with multiple practices M&A, Tax, Disputes, IP, etc.

- Ensure consistent feedback loops from the market to help inform the firms strategy and offering evolution.
