About the Opportunity:

Our client is a leading WealthTech company transforming the digital investing experience through innovative technology and customer-centric products. As the organization continues its rapid growth, we are looking for an experienced Vice President / Associate Vice President Engineering (Java) to lead engineering teams, drive technical excellence, and build highly scalable platforms powering millions of investment transactions.

This is a strategic leadership role for someone passionate about engineering, innovation, and building high-performing technology organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership:

- Lead and scale multiple engineering teams across Backend, Platform, and Full Stack development.

- Build a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

- Mentor Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Senior Software Engineers while strengthening leadership capability across the organization.

Technology & Architecture:

- Drive architecture and technical strategy for scalable, secure, and high-performance financial applications.

- Lead architectural decisions around Java, Microservices, Distributed Systems, Cloud Infrastructure, and Event-Driven Architecture.

- Ensure systems are highly available, resilient, and capable of handling high transaction volumes with low latency.

Product Delivery:

- Partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Business teams to deliver customer-centric products.

- Drive execution of strategic technology initiatives while maintaining engineering quality, speed, and reliability.

- Champion Agile delivery, engineering governance, and continuous improvement.

Platform & Engineering Excellence:

- Improve platform scalability, observability, reliability, and security.

- Strengthen CI/CD pipelines, automation, release management, and engineering productivity.

- Establish best practices around code quality, architecture reviews, testing, and secure software development.

Stakeholder Management:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology strategy with business objectives.

- Present engineering roadmaps, delivery updates, technical risks, and platform strategy to executive leadership.

What We're Looking For:

- 10-15 years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles.

- Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Distributed Systems, and REST APIs.

- Proven experience leading engineering teams within WealthTech, FinTech, Stock Broking, Capital Markets, Trading Platforms, or Digital Banking.

- Strong understanding of scalable system architecture, cloud-native applications, and modern engineering practices.

- Experience leading Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and cross-functional engineering teams.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a product-first mindset.
