Our client, one of India's leading life insurance companies, is seeking a strategic and visionary AI leader with a proven track record in building and executing Generative AI strategies.

This role will be responsible for designing and implementing AI initiatives that create value across Operations, Risk, Underwriting & Claims, and Customer Service, while also shaping the organization's Generative AI roadmap. The position requires a blend of strategic foresight and disciplined execution, offering a unique opportunity to drive digital transformation and embed intelligence into core business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the Generative AI strategy for Operations, Risk, Underwriting & Claims, and Customer Service.
- Collaborate with business leaders to identify high-value AI use cases, prioritizing based on ROI, speed-to-value, and regulatory requirements.
- Champion Generative AI adoption-educate stakeholders, run pilots, and ensure safe, compliant scaling of solutions.
- Develop frameworks to measure and communicate the value and ROI of AI initiatives.
- Oversee the design and deployment of AI/GenAI solutions, making key technical decisions on model selection, fine-tuning, and architecture.
- Ensure solutions are production-ready and seamlessly integrated into existing workflows.
- Work closely with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to meet regulatory standards for AI models and customer interactions.
- Build and nurture relationships with industry and academic partners to bring fresh perspectives and showcase organizational learnings.
- Mentor and guide the AI team, fostering a culture of innovation, delivery, and continuous learning.
- Develop a high-performing team of business-focused, technically excellent problem solvers.
Key Competencies & Skills:
- Master's or PhD in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Machine Learning/AI, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Econometrics, or equivalent).
- 10+ years of experience in AI/ML, with at least 7 years in senior leadership roles; BFSI experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in developing and deploying AI/ML solutions in financial services.
- Deep expertise in AI/ML model development, deployment, and Generative AI/LLMs (including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, LLMOps, and bias controls).
- End-to-end delivery experience: data engineering, feature engineering, model development, containerized deployment (microservices), CI/CD, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in Python, ML frameworks, and MLOps practices.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Passion for continuous learning and thought leadership in AI.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and executive presence.
