Role Overview

We are seeking an Associate to support the client in identifying, evaluating, and executing pre-seed and seed-stage investments across India's startup ecosystem. The role involves deal sourcing, founder interactions, commercial due diligence, market analysis, investment memos, and portfolio support. Associates are expected to build conviction on early-stage opportunities and contribute directly to investment decisions.

Education: CA / CFA / MBA (Tier-1 preferred) / Engineering + relevant investing experience.

Key Responsibilities:

- Source high-quality deal flow by leveraging professional networks, attending industry events, and maintaining active relationships with incubators and accelerators to ensure a consistent pipeline of investment opportunities.

- Perform comprehensive financial analysis and build robust financial models to stress-test startup assumptions and project long-term growth potential.

- Execute rigorous due diligence processes, including market research, competitive landscape analysis, and technical/operational reviews to mitigate investment risks.

- Conduct detailed valuation exercises using multiple methodologies to ensure fair entry pricing and optimal capital structure for both the firm and the founders.

- Review and refine pitch decks and business plans, providing actionable feedback to founders to sharpen their value proposition and operational strategy.

- Prepare investment memos and present findings to the investment committee, articulating clear investment theses and potential exit scenarios.

- Monitor portfolio company performance post-investment, offering strategic guidance to help founders navigate growth challenges and achieve key milestones.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling and valuation techniques, with the ability to translate complex data into clear investment recommendations.

- Strong proficiency in conducting primary and secondary market research to identify emerging trends and evaluate the scalability of early-stage business models.

- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain high-value relationships with founders, co-investors, and ecosystem partners.

- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into concise, persuasive communication for internal stakeholders and external partners.

- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of professional experience in venture capital, private equity, or investment banking, with a specific focus on the startup ecosystem.
