Job Title: Head - Marketing, VCPL

Business Segment/Resource Group: Marketing

Reports to Manager: Managing Director, VCPL

Job Overview :

To spearhead, enable and deliver sustained and profitable growth through the Valvoline Brand Equity acceleration and differentiated platforms and programs developments and in-market execution. Will be responsible for driving brand, trade marketing initiatives and growth platforms within B2C, passenger vehicle, commercial/heavy duty, and motorcycle/two-wheel vehicle channels. The incumbent will drive tailoring and execution of platforms including digital and social media. The position will work closely with the Global Marketing Council, Sales and Key Customers as well as with all other functional areas.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop / drive execution of short- and long-term marketing strategy and annual marketing plan (15%).

- Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing brand and digital marketing strategy, including managing, guiding, and training team members and stakeholders on digital marketing platforms, tools, and techniques (15%).

- Lead planning, implementation and progress/tracking of marketing and platform execution: 1. Refine, tailor and prove-out global platforms to penetrate B2C passenger vehicles and heavy-duty aftermarket channels, and deliver strong return-on-investment.


2. Build and execute the product portfolio, programs, training and selling processes necessary for effective implementation and competitive advantage


3. Development and execution of relevant strategies and platforms that drive distribution depth & breadth, market share, volume, and profit growth, and build customer/target loyalty to Valvoline, including research and analysis to build insights that enable strategic and tactic choices and recommendations (20%).

- Lead planning, implementation and progress/tracking of brand building activities, including evaluation, approval and execution of media and communication plans to increase Valvoline brand awareness, and increase brand consideration among key targets (20%).

- Develop and progress internal and external capabilities necessary to effectively execute business platforms and support, and interface, participate and become a subject matter expert and guide business platforms towards global orientation, relevance, and execution (10%).

- Support planning and tracking businesses to ensure plan delivery, and author and circulate monthly summary of key performance indicators, scorecards and progress towards volume, marketing campaign effectiveness and financial plan (10%).

- Acts in a timely manner, with urgency or caution as appropriate, but always in a planful way, ensuring ethical, responsible, and safe communication among teams and external stakeholders (10%).

Primary Interactions - Internal and External:

Senior Management, Sales teams, Global Marketing teams, Supply chain, Pricing, Distributors, Creative agencies.

Environment, Health & Safety:

- Follows all EHS policies and procedures.

- Promotes Valvoline EHS principles.

- Participates in training as required.

Job Information:

Role Level (estimated): Director

People Manager: Yes, 9 direct reports, 21 total staff.

Employment Status (US Only): Exempt

Travel Requirements: Min 40% overnight travel required.

Preferences and Minimum Requirements:

Education: MBA / PGDBM with specialization in Marketing from a reputed institute.

Work Experience:

- Minimum 20 plus years of experience in marketing (brand or product marketing, retail, business-to-business, channel development, communications strategy and execution, management, sales collaboration, trade and consumer programs).

- At least 5 years of experience in heading a marketing organization and leading a team in commercial role.

- Proven track record in successful implementation of brand campaign that generate significant growth to the business.

- Experience in innovative and new generation marketing and brand building tools.

- Experience in digital marketing including social media platforms.

- Experience in the automotive industry would be a plus.

A good balance of business acumen and marketing/brand outlook. Strategic thinking and influence with analytics proficiency. Leadership ability to motivate teams and coach. Good understanding of sales and distribution fundamentals. Articulate and convincing communicator. Digitally adept, data driven and analytical.
