Role Summary:
We are seeking a high-caliber US Tax Manager to lead our expanding Tax Services team in Bangalore. In this pivotal role, you will act as a "Technical Reviewer and Strategic Advisor," overseeing complex Federal and State tax compliance for corporate and partnership entities. You must possess deep hands-on expertise in Form 1120 (C-Corp) and Form 1065 (Partnerships), along with the ability to manage the end-to-end tax lifecyclefrom initial data gathering to final review of estimates and extensions. The ideal candidate is a PTIN-registered professional with a proven track record in people management, capable of mentoring a team of tax associates while maintaining high-impact client communications in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
Responsibilities:
- Complex Tax Compliance: Lead the preparation and technical review of US Federal and State tax returns, specifically focusing on Form 1120 (Corporations) and Form 1065 (Partnerships).
- Engagement Management: Direct multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables meet strict IRS deadlines and internal quality standards.
- Advisory & Planning: Provide high-level tax advisory services, including identifying tax savings opportunities, managing tax estimates, and filing timely extensions.
- Technical Review Logic: Conduct rigorous reviews of workpapers, ensuring accurate book-to-tax adjustments, depreciation schedules, and state apportionment data.
- People Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, conducting formal performance reviews and providing technical guidance to enhance team capability.
- Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for US-based clients, explaining complex tax positions and resolving compliance queries with professional clarity.
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure all filings adhere to the latest US Tax Code updates and State-specific regulatory changes.
- Workpaper Standardization: Develop and maintain standardized tax workpaper templates to improve team efficiency and ensure audit-readiness.
- PTIN Governance: Maintain an active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) and oversee the professional ethics and compliance of the local team.
Technical Requirements:
- US Tax Expertise: 5+ years of dedicated experience in US Federal and State taxation within a public accounting or specialized tax firm.
- Form Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Form 1120, 1120-S, and 1065, including Schedule K-1, M-1, and M-3 reconciliations.
- Managerial Experience: At least 1.5 years of experience leading teams and managing client-facing engagements.
- Credentialing: An active PTIN is mandatory.
- Preferred Qualifications: CPA (US) or Chartered Accountant (ICAI); familiarity with tax software like GoSystem, ProSystem fx, or Lacerte.
Preferred Skills:
- Public Accounting Background: Prior experience in a "Big 4" or mid-tier US public accounting firm.
- International Tax Exposure: Basic understanding of cross-border tax issues (Forms 5471, 8865, or 8858) is a significant plus.
- Project Management: Ability to utilize JIRA or similar tools to track filing statuses and resource allocation across the team.
