1. Carrier Relationship Management (Ocean Freight)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines and NVOCCs for export and import movements.
- Negotiate competitive FCL & LCL rates, surcharges, and long-term contracts.
- Ensure availability of space, equipment, and service commitments across trade lanes.
- Develop long-term carrier partnerships to support business growth and customer retention.
2. Rate Procurement & Profitability Management
- Procure spot rates, special rates, and contract rates for ocean freight (exports & imports).
- Work closely with trade lane and operations teams to optimize cost structures.
- Analyze freight rate trends, surcharges, and seasonal fluctuations.
- Ensure pricing strategies enhance margin optimization and volume growth.
3. RFQ / Tender Management & Pricing Support
- Manage end-to-end RFQs, tenders, and customer pricing requests within defined timelines.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders for accurate cost inputs and feasibility checks.
- Prepare and submit competitive, error-free quotations aligned with carrier agreements.
- Maintain pricing accuracy and compliance with internal policies and contracts.
4. Sales Collaboration & Commercial Support
- Partner closely with Sales and Key Account teams to understand customer requirements.
- Provide timely pricing support for new business acquisition and renewals.
- Share competitor pricing insights and market intelligence to strengthen proposals.
- Support customized pricing strategies for strategic and key customers.
5. Pricing Issue Resolution & Carrier Coordination
- Resolve pricing discrepancies, rate disputes, and space allocation issues.
- Coordinate with carriers for urgent rate approvals, escalations, and exceptions.
- Ensure smooth communication to prevent shipment delays or commercial losses.
- Maintain proper documentation of escalations and resolutions.
6. Market Analysis & Management Reporting
- Monitor ocean freight market trends, rate movements, and carrier strategies.
- Prepare monthly MIS and management reports covering trade lane performance and competitiveness.
- Recommend pricing adjustments based on market intelligence and business needs.
- Support management with data-driven insights for strategic decisions.
