We are looking to hire a leadership role Head - Credit Audit at Unity Small Finance Bank reporting to Group Head - Internal Audit.

Role Objective

- Responsible for the independent review of design and execution of retail and institutional funding to assess the credit quality of lending activities and their governance.

- Support the Head Internal Audit ("HIA") in all matters related to credit risk, including contributing to the Bank's credit risk assessment and support in consulting manner the business on development of appropriate credit risk framework.

- Pan India audit coverage and risk based scoping methodology to ensure a comprehensive and representative sample of the overall loan portfolio

- To assist in performance of annual risk assessment for development of Credit audit universe and RBAP.

- To ensure completion of RBAP.

Key Responsibilities

1. Audit Planning & Execution

- Lead identification and assessment of key lending and credit risks aligned with business and regulatory expectations.

- Contribute to the development, review, and execution of the Risk-Based Audit Plan (RBAP).

- Ensure 100% adherence to scope, timelines, and quality for RBI-mandated audits.

- Review audit workpapers to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with IAD policies and manuals.

- Ensure evaluation of auditable data for integrity, accuracy, and relevance.

- Release draft and final audit reports within agreed timelines.

2. Stakeholder Management & Reporting

- Ensure audit reports are clear, accurate, objective, constructive, and aligned to risk relevance.

- Engage with auditees to ensure timely implementation of action plans and closure of observations.

- Provide audit documentation and support during RBI/Regulator inspections (AFI).

- Update Head - Internal Audit & Vigilance on risk acceptance cases and support investigations when required.

- Liaise effectively with external and concurrent auditors.

3. Internal Processes & Quality Assurance

- Ensure complete documentation of workpapers as per RBI and IAD standards.

- Maintain robust internal MIS and ensure timely reporting to senior management.

- Ensure full adherence to internal quality assurance processes (QAIP).

- Strengthen audit trails, issue tracking, and closure mechanisms.

4. People Development & Capability Building

- Provide continuous coaching and training to the audit team on credit, regulatory expectations, and audit methodology.

- Encourage team participation in certifications across IIBF, NIBM, IIA, ICAI, or equivalent institutions.

- Participate in internal and external learning programs to stay current with evolving audit and risk practices.

Qualifications & Experience

- CA/MBA/Certified Internal Auditor or equivalent professional qualification.

- 15-18 years of experience in Internal Audit, Credit Audit, Credit Risk, or related lending governance roles in the Banking/Financial Services industry.

- Strong understanding of RBI regulations, credit underwriting processes, and risk management frameworks.

- Proven experience in leading audit teams and managing senior stakeholders.

- Sound understanding of lending products, credit policies, and regulatory frameworks.
