Position Title: Warehouse Manager / Inventory Manager (Manufacturing)

Department: Supply Chain / Stores & Warehouse

Location: Chennai, Guindy


Reporting To: Plant Head / Head - Supply Chain

Purpose of the Role:


We are looking for an experienced Warehouse & Inventory Manager from a manufacturing background to manage end-to-end warehouse operations including Raw Material (RM), Work-in-Process (WIP), Finished Goods (FG), and Spares inventory.

The role is responsible for ensuring optimum stock availability for production and sales, accurate inventory control, efficient warehouse practices, and compliance with safety and audit standards.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Inventory Management (RM / WIP / FG):

- Maintain optimal stock levels of raw materials, packing materials, consumables, and finished goods to support uninterrupted production and dispatch.


- Monitor daily inventory movement, consumption patterns, and replenishment planning.


- Ensure accurate inventory accounting for RM, WIP, FG, and engineering spares.


- Conduct regular cycle counts, physical stock verification, and reconciliation with ERP records.


- Identify slow-moving, non-moving, excess, or obsolete stock and recommend corrective actions.


2. Manufacturing Warehouse Operations:

- Manage end-to-end warehouse activities including material receipt, inspection coordination, storage, picking, issuing, and dispatch.


- Ensure systematic storage with proper binning, labeling, batch control, and traceability.


- Implement FIFO/FEFO practices to maintain material freshness and reduce wastage.


- Coordinate with production teams for timely material issue and line feeding.


- Maintain warehouse hygiene, safety, and compliance as per plant standards.


3. Production & Sales Coordination:

- Work closely with Production Planning (PPC) to ensure material availability as per production schedules.

- Coordinate with sales and logistics teams for timely dispatch of finished goods.


- Provide stock availability reports and dispatch readiness updates to stakeholders.


- Minimize stock-outs, production stoppages, and overstock situations through proactive planning.


4. Process Improvement & Compliance:

- Develop and enforce SOPs for stores and warehouse operations.

- Ensure compliance with internal controls, statutory norms, and audit requirements.


- Support ISO/5S/Lean warehouse initiatives and continuous improvement programs.

- Drive warehouse KPIs such as inventory accuracy, stock turnover, dispatch efficiency, and shrinkage control.


5. ERP / Reporting & Systems:

- Ensure effective use of ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally / WMS) for inventory tracking and reporting.

- Prepare MIS reports including stock ageing, variance analysis, consumption trends, and warehouse performance dashboards.


- Support ERP/WMS implementation, process automation, and digitization initiatives.


Key Skills & Competencies:


- Strong expertise in manufacturing warehouse management and inventory control.

- Knowledge of RM, WIP, FG, batch management, and production material flow.


- Experience in FIFO/FEFO, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation.


- Hands-on experience with ERP/WMS tools for warehouse operations.


- Strong coordination, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.


Qualifications & Experience:


- Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.

- 5-12 years of experience in warehouse and inventory management within a manufacturing plant environment.


- Exposure to ISO standards, audits, and process-driven warehouse systems is preferred.
