Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Motor Underwriting to lead our motor insurance division. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing underwriting strategies, managing risk, and driving profitability in our motor insurance portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement motor underwriting policies, guidelines, and procedures
- Analyze market trends, competition, and industry data to inform underwriting strategies
- Manage and optimize the motor insurance portfolio to ensure profitability and growth
- Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and product development teams to enhance motor insurance offerings
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including brokers and reinsurers
- Implement and oversee the use of advanced analytics and technological solutions in underwriting processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in motor insurance underwriting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of Indian motor insurance market, regulations, and trends
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software and data analysis tools
- Professional insurance qualifications (e.g., ACII, FCII) are highly desirable
