Job Objective:

To lead the organization's indirect taxation function by ensuring end-to-end compliance with GST, Customs, Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), and other indirect tax regulations while optimizing tax efficiency, minimizing litigation exposure, driving automation, and enabling business growth through proactive tax management and governance. The role will act as a strategic partner to business leaders, ensuring robust tax controls and regulatory compliance across all Trident Group businesses.

Key Responsibility Areas:

Strategy:

- Develop and execute a comprehensive Indirect Tax strategy aligned with Trident Group's business growth and expansion plans.

- Ensure full compliance with GST, Customs, DGFT, FTP, and other applicable indirect tax laws across all manufacturing and business locations.

- Drive tax optimization initiatives while ensuring adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.

- Establish a robust governance framework to proactively manage indirect tax risks, disputes, audits, and litigations.

- Lead digital transformation and automation initiatives within the tax function to improve efficiency, visibility, and compliance.

- Partner with business leaders to evaluate tax implications of new projects, CAPEX investments, contracts, business restructuring, and expansion initiatives.

- Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, government authorities, consultants, and auditors.

Operations:

GST Compliance & Governance:

- Oversee timely and accurate filing of GST returns across all legal entities.

- Ensure seamless GST reconciliations, ITC optimization, and GST health monitoring.

- Review GST positions and ensure compliance with evolving tax regulations.

- Drive closure of GST notices, assessments, and department queries within prescribed timelines.

Customs, DGFT & Foreign Trade Compliance:

- Lead compliance related to Customs, Import-Export regulations, FTP policies, EPCG, Advance Authorization, RoDTEP, and other export incentive schemes.

- Ensure efficient customs clearance processes while minimizing delays and associated costs.

Litigation & Tax Risk Management:

- Lead all GST, Customs, and other indirect tax assessments, audits, investigations, and litigation matters.

- Develop litigation strategy and oversee representation before tax authorities.

- Monitor contingent liabilities and recommend risk mitigation actions.

- Ensure proper documentation and readiness for departmental audits.

Tax Automation & Digital Initiatives:

- Implement technology-driven solutions for GST compliance, reconciliations, audit management, and reporting.

- Drive integration between SAP, tax engines, and regulatory filing systems.

- Establish tax analytics dashboards for leadership review and decision-making.

Stakeholder Management:

- Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Supply Chain, Legal, and Manufacturing teams.

- Provide tax advisory support on commercial contracts, procurement structures, and operational decisions.

- Conduct awareness programs and capability-building initiatives across businesses.

Role Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

- Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory.

- Additional qualifications such as LLB, CMA, CS, MBA Finance, or specialization in Taxation will be preferred.

Experience:

- 15-20+ years of progressive experience in Indirect Taxation.

- Significant experience in large manufacturing, textiles, consumer goods, FMCG, chemicals, or diversified industrial organizations.

- Proven experience in GST, Customs, DGFT, FTP, Tax Litigation, and Tax Automation.

- Experience handling multiple manufacturing locations and complex supply chains.
