Torrent Diagnostics - General Manager/Assistant General Manager - Logistics

Role & responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Optimization:

- Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution, to optimize efficiency and minimize costs. Set up and manage PAN India logistics for movement of biological specimens ( intra-city and inter-city logistics operations )

Inventory Management:

- Oversee the management of inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock of diagnostic products and materials while minimizing waste and storage costs.

Transportation Management: Coordinate and manage the movement of blood samples, including inbound and outbound shipments, selecting optimal shipping methods, routes, and carriers. Set-up routes, schedules to meet defined turnaround time. Manage cold chain transportation of samples in defined temperature conditions

Warehouse Management:

- Supervise warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and dispatch of consumables / goods, ensuring efficient space utilization and proper handling of materials.

Supply Chain Management:

- Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient supply chain for diagnostic products. Manage PAN India consumable distribution and create network for effective distribution.

Cost Management:

- Analyze and control logistics costs, identify areas for cost reduction, and manage budgets effectively.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

- Ensure all logistics operations comply with relevant regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols. Draft SOPs for logistics operations, warehousing and distribution activities etc.

Team Management and Development:

- Supervise and mentor logistics staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management.

Customer Service:

Ensure timely and accurate delivery of services to customers, addressing any issues or complaints promptly.

Technology Implementation and Optimization:

- Evaluate and implement new logistics technologies and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Essential Skills:

- Strong leadership and management skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate tasks, and manage performance.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.

- In-depth knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles: Understanding of best practices, industry standards, and relevant regulations.

- Proficiency in logistics software and tools: Experience with inventory management systems, transportation management systems, and other relevant software.

- Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.

- Negotiation and contract management skills: Ability to negotiate favorable terms with carriers and suppliers.

- Financial acumen: Ability to manage budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

- Knowledge of the diagnostics industry and its specific requirements: Understanding of the unique challenges and regulations related to the transportation and storage of medical diagnostic products.

The incumbent would also be responsible for overseeing the logistics operations for diagnostic centers and labs, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of samples, reagents, and other materials. He would also need to be familiar with the local transportation infrastructure and regulations.
