Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Fund Management Corporation Limited (TNIFMC) is a SEBI regulated Alternative Investments Funds (AIF) manager, set up by the Government of Tamil Nadu along with leading financial institutions. TNIFMC manages focused AIFs in key sectors of the economy in Affordable Housing, Green Climate, Emerging Sector and Infrastructure Sectors.

TNIFMC is looking to recruit a Senior Associate/Principal for supporting investment activities for the funds under management. The position will be based out of Chennai.

Role Overview

The Senior Associate / Principal will play a critical role in supporting TNESSF's mandate of catalysing early-stage investments in emerging and priority sectors in Tamil Nadu. The role involves end-to-end participation across the investment value chain, with a strong emphasis on rigorous appraisal, governance, impact orientation, and ecosystem development, in line with government and public-sector norms.

Depending on experience, the role may be structured as Senior Associate or Principal, with commensurate responsibility in deal ownership, portfolio oversight, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Sourcing & Screening

- Identify and source early-stage investment opportunities aligned with TNESSF's sectoral priorities and policy objectives

- Conduct initial screening of proposals received through calls for applications, incubators, and ecosystem partners

- Assess promoter background, innovation, market opportunity, and scalability

Investment Appraisal & Due Diligence:

- Lead or support financial, commercial, and operational appraisal of seed and early-stage ventures

- Develop financial models, valuation scenarios, and fund-return impact assessments

- Conduct due diligence covering promoter integrity, governance, technology, and regulatory risk

- Prepare detailed Investment Notes / Appraisal Memos for internal review and Investment Committee consideration

Deal Execution & Governance

- Support structuring of investments (equity, compulsorily convertible instruments, or other SEBI-compliant structures)

- Coordinate with legal, financial, and technical advisors for documentation and deal closure

- Ensure compliance with SEBI AIF regulations, fund guidelines, and Government of Tamil Nadu requirements

Portfolio Monitoring & Support

- Monitor portfolio company performance against agreed milestones, KPIs, and fund objectives

- Track utilization of funds, compliance with covenants, and achievement of developmental outcomes

- Support portfolio companies through strategic guidance, investor connect, and ecosystem linkages

- Prepare periodic portfolio performance and compliance reports for fund management and governing bodies

Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement

- Engage with incubators, accelerators, academic institutions, industry bodies, and government departments

- Support coordination with co-investors, SIDBI, and other public or private capital providers

- Assist in fund-level reporting, presentations, and audits as required by government stakeholders

Candidate Profile

Experience

Senior Associate: 8-12 years of relevant experience

Principal: 12+ years of relevant experience

Experience may include:

- Venture Capital / Seed or Early-Stage Investment Funds

- Government-sponsored or development finance funds

- Investment appraisal or credit evaluation roles in banks / financial institutions

- Startup finance, strategy, or corporate development roles

Skills & Competencies

- Strong financial analysis, modeling, and appraisal skills

- Understanding of early-stage venture economics and startup risks

- Familiarity with government-backed fund processes, compliance, and reporting

- Strong documentation, note-writing, and presentation skills

- Ability to balance commercial judgment with public-policy objectives

Education:

Management Degree: Master's Degree in Management (MBA) from a premier institute, preferably with a specialization in Finance or Entrepreneurship.

Engineering Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (with preference to Computer Science, IT, or Electronics) to effectively assess the technical viability of tech-driven startups.

Mandatory Requirement : Must know Tamil at conversation level.
