
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Intellectual Property Portfolio Management, Advisory & Risk Assessment:
- Collaborate closely with internal business teams, product development teams, R&D/invention teams and external law firms to ensure effective protection and enforcement of intellectual property assets.
- Conduct comprehensive trademark availability and clearance searches, analyse search results, assess risks, and provide recommendations for adoption and registration of new brand names, taglines, product names, and logos.
- Maintain, monitor and update the Intellectual Property database, tracking of applications, registrations, renewals, oppositions and related actions and generate periodic reports and dashboards on the same.
- Review proposed brand names, advertising campaigns, packaging, promotional materials, product designs, digital content, and marketing collateral from an IP risk perspective and advice the business teams.
- Support creation and implementation of IP awareness programs and training sessions for employees.
Filing & Registrations:
- Coordinate with business teams, innovation teams, external counsel and IP attorneys for filing and prosecution of trademark, patent, design, and copyright applications.
- Facilitate collection and review of supporting documents, forms, declarations, specifications, drawings, evidence of use, and other filing requirements.
- Track progress of applications and coordinate responses to examination reports, office actions, oppositions, hearings, and other proceedings before Intellectual Property Offices.
- Support the development and protection of new innovations, inventions, product designs, collections, and branding assets through appropriate IP filings.
Monitoring & Anti-Infringement Actions:
- Conduct regular monitoring of the marketplace, e-commerce platforms, social media channels, websites, trade exhibitions, and retail outlets to identify unauthorized use or infringement of intellectual property rights.
- Investigate potential infringements, counterfeiting activities, passing off, copyright violations, trademark misuse, and design infringements.
- Draft and issue cease-and-desist notices and settlement communications against infringing parties.
- Coordinate with external counsel for initiating appropriate civil, criminal, administrative, customs, domain name, or online enforcement actions.
- Monitor ongoing litigation matters, manage documentation, and provide status updates to stakeholders.
Work Experience:
- 6 - 9 years of Corporate legal Experience in IPR, Trademarks, Patents, etc.
- Collaborate closely with internal business teams, product development teams, R&D/invention teams, and external law firms to ensure effective protection and enforcement of intellectual property assets.
- Be capable of making legal research and legal recommendations to resolve problems or improve process.
- High level of technical competence with ability to work on number of computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google applications (Excel / Sheets, Word / Docs and PPT / slides) etc.
