To effectively manage the design development and design strategy for Tanishq Jewellery by being responsible for the development of the design language of the product and samples aligned to the design language in line with the business requirements and market and consumer trends

Process Contributions

Design : Strategy Development : Market insights

1. Undertake market and consumer research to understand the megatrends, socioeconomic trends to identify opportunities

2. Lead the consumer / market research aligned to the identified megatrends to develop the design directions for the products and present to the relevant stakeholders

3. Develop the detailed design calendar aligned to the marketing calendar and cascade it to the team and the NPD team

4. Provide inputs to the development of the annual operating plan based on the resource and budget estimates envisaged for the year

Design : Product Development : Design Development Jewellery

1. Participate the product brief from the marketing team to capture the requirements and develop the design brief

2. Allocate the projects to the team members based on the work load and capability for the development of the design concept

3. Evaluate the design idea and sketches and shortlist the designs aligned to the requirements

4. Liaise with the technical managers for the development of the technical drawing to ensure its alignment to the defined budget

5. Present the design concept and technical drawing to the marketing team and other relevant stakeholders to garner required approvals

6. Oversee the development of the RPT sample and present it to the NPD, sales team and other stakeholders for incorporating their point of view

7. Liaison with the NPD team in the development of the prototype and ensure that it meets the quality and design requirements

8. Showcase the final prototype to the various stakeholders viz. marketing, retail, senior leadership team to garner their inputs and ensure that the recommendations are incorporated

9. Review the PBPM developed along with all the technical specifications and release to the manufacturing team for mass production

Design : Vendor Management

Evaluate the performance of the vendors and recommend appropriate actions

Additional Parameters:

- Minimum 8 years of experience in design, preferably in the jewelry industry

- Strong leadership skills and experience in managing a team of designers

- Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and 3D modeling

- Excellent communication and presentation skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

- Passion for design and a keen eye for detail

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design or a related field

- Minimum 12+ years of experience in design in the jewellery industry

- Proven experience in managing a team of designers and delivering high-quality designs

- Expertise in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and 3D modeling

- Strong understanding of design principles, trends, and techniques

- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

- Passion for design and a keen eye for detail
