Head of Equities

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Head of Equities to lead the equities business with strategic insight, operational excellence, and customer-centric thinking. This senior leadership role is responsible for managing profitability, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving team performance, and delivering exceptional returns for clients and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing equity trading, advisory, and portfolio functions at a senior level and will be accountable for overall cluster profitability and Return on Capital Employed (ROCE).

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive business plan and growth strategy for the Equities division across regions/clusters.

- Lead initiatives that maximize ROCE and ensure sustainable profitability.

- Align operational goals with organizational vision and financial targets.

- Oversee daily operations of the equities business, ensuring seamless execution, compliance, and client satisfaction.

- Enforce adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.

- Continuously assess and improve trading strategies, research quality, and service offerings.

- Inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to deliver high performance and client-centric solutions.

- Identify skill gaps and implement training & development programs for team members.

- Create a performance-driven culture with clear KPIs and accountability.

- Ensure exceptional service delivery to clients through all equity-related touchpoints.

- Manage high-value client relationships, providing strategic input and investment direction.

- Resolve complex customer or operational issues with sound judgment and discretion.

- Interpret and analyze financial and sales data to guide strategic decisions.

- Generate regular reports and presentations for management and board review.

- Use insights to adjust and optimize business approaches across regions.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create innovative equity offerings and value-added services.

- Support the creation and execution of marketing strategies and campaigns to promote the equities business.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Management or related fields.

- 1015 years of experience in equity markets, trading, portfolio management, or investment advisory, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.

- Deep knowledge of capital markets, equity instruments, regulations (SEBI, NSE/BSE), and client management.

- Strong business acumen with a focus on profitability, compliance, and client retention.

- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

- Ability to manage complex, diverse managerial issues across regions.

- Proficiency in financial tools, research platforms, and CRM systems.

Preferred Certifications:

- NISM / NCFM Certifications in Equity Derivatives / Research Analysis / Investment Advisory.

- CFA / CAIA / MBA in Finance
