Role Overview
As we scale, we are looking for a People Lead who can own our global People function end-to-endbalancing talent, culture, and operations with equal strength. Over the past year, we have laid the foundation for hiring, HR processes, and culture design. Now we need someone who can refine, strengthen, and run these systems at scale.
This is a hands-on yet strategic role. Youll manage people operations, partner with leadership on org planning, drive global hiring where needed, and cultivate a culture designed for a distributed, mission-driven team.

Responsibilities
People Operations & HR
- Own and streamline people operations across India and global locations.
- Oversee contracts, letters, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and compliance.
- Keep HR policies updated, practical, and aligned to Thryves growth stage.
- Ensure smooth onboarding and offboarding with exceptional employee experience.
- Partner with finance on compensation modeling, benchmarking, and cost alignment.
- Manage and maintain HR systems, documentation, and data hygiene.
- Support global workforce structures (employment, contracting, compliance) as we scale into new regions.
Culture, Engagement & Development
- Strengthen Thryves cultural values through rituals, communication, and leadership alignment.
- Run engagement touchpoints: all-hands, check-ins, surveys, and feedback mechanisms.
- Support performance cycles, including reflections, review frameworks, and calibration.
- Build simple, usable manager toolkits (feedback, 1:1s, development planning).
- Coach team leads on people-related challenges and team growth.
- Promote inclusion, transparency, and psychological safety within a global, mission-driven team.
Talent Acquisition
- Lead strategic hiring for critical and niche roles; support functional leads on role definition and interview design.
- Build sustainable sourcing strategiesmarket mapping, targeted outreach, and partnerships for ecology, forestry, biodiversity, carbon, and project development talent.
- Ensure structured, fair interview processes globally with strong candidate experience.
- Maintain hiring dashboards, track funnel metrics, and use insights to improve quality and speed.
- Build future pipelines for anticipated needs in project, carbon, technical, and business teams.
- Partner with founders on senior or strategic hiring.
Qualifications
Essential
- 7+ years of experience across People Operations and Talent, with strong HR fundamentals.
- Proven experience owning HR operations contracts, compliance, payroll, policies, and employee lifecycle.
- Experience hiring across functions (technical, scientific/nature, operations, business).
- Exposure to global teams or multi-country HR environments.
- Background in early-stage or fast-scaling companies.
- Strong communication, judgment, and stakeholder management.
- Highly independent, operationally strong, and able to bring structure in ambiguous environments.
Preferred
- Experience scaling People systems during growth phases (30 100+).
- Familiarity with global employment models and distributed teams.
- Experience in sustainability, climate, nature-based solutions, or impact sectors.
- Prior people leadership or mentoring experience.
- Comfort working across time zones and diverse cultural contexts.
