The Opportunity
We are seeking a Head of Digital Marketing to fuel subscription growth through bold strategy, experimentation, and creativity.
You will lead a team of 9 (designers, copywriters, and performance marketers) and partner with editorial, product, technology, and subscription teams to craft a sustainable, reader-first business model. This role demands a "whatever it takes" mindset and the imagination to reinvent marketing - by experimenting at scale, especially with AI-powered technologies.
At THG, our journey is not just for ourselves. The right leader will also share learnings with the wider news media industry - because in a democracy as vast as India, sustaining lakhs of diverse sources of news is critical for a vibrant society.
What You Will Do
Inspire & Reimagine
- Fire the imagination of how millions discover, value, and fall in love with The Hindu.
- Break formulas, challenge conventions, and use AI not just as a tool, but as a canvas to create experiences readers never expect from a news brand.
- Make subscribing feel less like a transaction and more like joining a movement.
Lead & Deliver
- Guide performance marketers, designers, and copywriters to run high-impact, multi-channel campaigns (Google, Meta, Bing, LinkedIn, Quora, X/Twitter).
- Own marketing budgets with accountability to get the most stretched ROI.
- Drive the full subscription funnel - trials, conversions, renewals, churn reduction.
- Optimize app installs and in-app journeys in collaboration with the App Growth team.
- Use data, analytics, and AI-driven insights to power targeting, personalization, and scaling.
- Build strategies that balance short-term results with long-term trust and sustainability.
- Share insights transparently with leadership and meaningfully with the wider industry.
What We're Looking For
- Education: B.E./B.Tech + MBA or equivalent entrepreneurial experience.
- Experience: 8+ years in digital marketing, including 1-2 years managing teams.
- AI Curiosity: Excited to harness AI for automation, personalization, and experimentation.
- Mindset: Creative, resilient, "whatever it takes" to build sustainable growth.
- Leadership: Ability to inspire, align stakeholders, and drive bold outcomes.
