- The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies to ensure the efficient and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services, this includes managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and optimizing the supply chain.
- Will play a key role in ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards, as well as driving continuous improvement in procurement processes.
A more detailed breakdown of the responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning and Leadership:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive supply chain strategies aligned with the company's goals.
- Leading the procurement team and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Driving initiatives to improve fill rates, reduce costs, and achieve top and bottom-line growth.
- Developing contingency plans for critical suppliers to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
2. Sourcing and Supplier Management:
- Identifying and on-boarding new vendors, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery standards.
- Managing end-to-end procurement of various items, including raw materials, packaging, and operational supplies.
- Negotiating pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Conducting supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and contractual agreements.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers.
3. Cost Optimization and Value Creation:
- Conducting cost analysis and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and value optimization.
- Implementing strategies to drive down procurement costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Utilizing reverse auctions, open bidding, and other techniques to secure the best prices.
- Monitoring and tracking cost savings and performance metrics.
4. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant food safety regulations, including FSSAI, AGMARK, and other standards.
- Maintaining documentation related to vendor specifications, test reports, and other compliance requirements.
- Working closely with R&D, quality control, and other departments to ensure product quality and safety.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of the food industry supply chain and procurement processes.
- Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost optimization.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Experience in managing teams and driving performance.
