The Good Guys - Strategy & Transformation Consultant - Retail

Overview (Only for ex-MBB, Tier-1/2 Consulting Firm Expertise)

We are seeking an experienced Retail Transformation Consultant to support a large telecom operator in redesigning and modernizing its retail operating model. This is a fixed-term contract consulting engagement focused on driving structural improvements across the retail network, operating model, governance, processes, and performance management. Prior experience in retail transformation-ideally within Telecom, Banking, or large-format retail-is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the end-to-end assessment of the current retail operating model, organizational structure, and performance levers.

- Design an evolved retail operating model aligned to future customer experience, commercial priorities, and omnichannel integration.

- Define the future role of retail channel, including store segmentation, footprint optimization, workforce model, and productivity levers.

- Improve commercial effectiveness across sales, upsell/cross-sell, merchandising, and service delivery.

- Redesign governance, KPIs, and reporting structures to enhance decision-making and accountability at regional and store levels.

- Develop SOPs, process maps, and playbooks for core retail functions (sales, service, operations, visual merchandising, inventory, etc.).

- Identify digital enablement opportunities including CRM, automation, retail analytics, workforce tools, and performance dashboards.

- Support change management, capability building, and implementation planning.

- Conduct & participate in onsite workshops, leadership reviews, to brainstorm, gather insights and validate solutions.

Required Experience & Skills:

- Strong, demonstrable experience in retail transformation, retail operating model redesign, or retail performance improvement.

- Experience working with omnichannel retailers, telecom retail, electronics retail, fashion/lifestyle retail, or large multi-store networks.

- Ability to structure and manage transformation programs with senior stakeholders.

- Strong analytical skills, comfort with data-driven insights, and ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations.

- Excellent communication, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.

Eligibility Criteria:

- 4 to 6 years of relevant consulting or industry experience, with a focus on retail transformation.

- Prior experience in telecom retail transformation is a significant advantage.

- Availability for monthly onsite visits (outside India) which will be paid by the company
