Job Description:

Lead HR & Strategy

Location: Head Office Kolkata

Reporting To: Head Strategy & Transformation

About The Alumina Company (TAC):

The Alumina Company (TAC) is developing a world-class specialty alumina manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi. As a fast-growing startup, we are building our organization from the ground up and are looking for individuals who enjoy solving problems, taking ownership, and contributing across multiple business functions.

Position Summary:

The Lead HR & Strategy will support the Head Strategy & Transformation in building a high-performing organization by leading Human Resources initiatives while contributing to strategic projects and business transformation.

Approximately 60% of the role will focus on Human Resources, including talent acquisition, HR operations, policy development, employee engagement, and HRMS implementation. The remaining 40% will involve project coordination, digital transformation, business process improvement, and other strategic initiatives as assigned by management.

This role is ideal for an ambitious early-career professional who thrives in a startup environment, enjoys variety, and is eager to build expertise across HR, strategy, and business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Human Resources:

- Manage end-to-end recruitment, including sourcing, interview coordination, onboarding, and candidate engagement.

- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.

- Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, confirmations, performance management, and exit processes.

- Support the implementation and administration of the HRMS and drive HR process digitalization.

- Maintain HR records and ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and company policies.

- Support employee engagement, learning & development, and organizational initiatives.

- Prepare HR reports, dashboards, and workforce analytics.

2. Strategy & Transformation:

- Coordinate strategic and cross-functional projects.

- Support digital transformation and business process improvement initiatives.

- Assist in implementing business systems, including HRMS and ERP modules.

- Prepare presentations, reports, dashboards, and business analyses for management.

- Conduct market research, benchmarking, and data analysis.

- Support business excellence initiatives and organizational projects.

- Undertake special projects and any additional responsibilities assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Engineering, Management, or a related discipline.

- MBA (HR/Operations/Strategy) preferred.

- 0-3 years of experience in HR, consulting, project management, business operations, or a similar role.

- Fresh MBA graduates with relevant internships, live projects, or leadership experience are encouraged to apply.

- Exposure to manufacturing or startup environments will be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.

- High ownership, initiative, and learning agility.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

- Familiarity with HRMS, ERP, AI tools, or digital productivity platforms is desirable.

- Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a builder, not just an HR professional. The ideal candidate is curious, adaptable, and excited to work across multiple business functions. This role is designed for someone who enjoys solving problems, creating processes from scratch, and working directly with leadership to build a growing organization.

Since TAC is a startup, you should be comfortable with ambiguity, changing priorities, and taking ownership beyond your formal job description. A positive attitude, strong execution capability, and willingness to learn are far more important than years of experience.

Why Join TAC?:

At TAC, you'll work directly with the Head Strategy & Transformation and gain exposure to senior leadership, strategic decision-making, and organization building. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to accelerate your career by working across HR, strategy, digital transformation, and business operations while helping shape a high-growth manufacturing company from the ground up.
