Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing the university's strategic plan.
- Lead initiatives to enhance the university's academic reputation and research output.
- Oversee academic programs and curriculum development to ensure high-quality teaching and learning standards.
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration among faculties and departments.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and quality assurance frameworks.
- Support grant applications, partnerships, and collaborative research projects.
- Provide leadership in resource allocation and budgeting in alignment with institutional priorities.
- Oversee administrative functions including student services
- Ensure adherence to university policies, regulatory requirements, and legal standards.
- Support the governance structures of the university
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of academic programs to ensure they meet the standards set by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) of Zambia and other regulatory bodies.
- Lead efforts to maintain and improve the university's academic accreditation and quality assurance processes.
- Supervise examination boards, the administration of assessments, and validation of examination results.
- Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of examination processes and outcomes.
Curriculum Development and Review:
- Address academic staff grievances and disciplinary matters as per university policies.
- Monitor student academic progress, retention, and graduation rates.
- Lead the formulation and enforcement of academic policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Higher Education, the Higher Education Authority (HEA), and other relevant bodies on academic matters.
- Competence in financial management, budgeting, and resource mobilization
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- A PhD or equivalent terminal degree from a recognized institution.
- At least 10-15 years of progressively responsible academic leadership experience
- Proven experience in university governance, strategic planning, and institutional development.
