Role Overview:

As the Plant Head - Operations (Sheet Metal), based in Chennai, you will be responsible for the overall operational performance of the sheet metal manufacturing plant. This leadership role involves overseeing production, supply chain, quality control, maintenance, and project management activities to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and finance, to achieve production targets, maintain quality standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Your leadership will be critical in fostering a culture of operational excellence and ensuring the plant's contribution to the company's overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage all aspects of plant operations, including production, supply chain, quality, and maintenance, to achieve operational excellence and meet business objectives.

- Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency, ensuring alignment with company goals.

- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of quality control systems to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through the application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

- Manage and mentor a team of operations professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

- Develop and manage the plant's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to financial targets.

- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand customer requirements and develop production plans that meet market demand.

- Oversee project management activities, ensuring timely and successful completion of capital projects and new product launches.

- Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain and competitive pricing.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage all facets of plant operations, including production, supply chain, quality, and maintenance, within a sheet metal manufacturing environment.

- Proven expertise in implementing and driving process excellence initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

- In-depth knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.

- Solid understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) is required; a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
