Role: Technical Product Manager - Payments
Role and Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Roadmap:
- Develop and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for payment processing, billing, payout, and related financial experiences.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer discovery to identify opportunities and gaps.
- Define and track success metrics (payment success rate, latency, fraud rates, cost per transaction, etc.).
Technical Ownership:
- Work closely with engineering to design robust, scalable payment architecture including gateways, orchestration, tokenization, ledgers, risk engines, and reconciliation processes.
- Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and user stories.
- Make data-driven decisions on build vs. buy (payment service providers, fraud tools, acquiring banks, etc.).
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of payment systems.
Execution & Delivery:
- Drive cross-functional execution with engineering, design, data, risk, finance, and compliance teams.
- Prioritize the backlog, run sprint planning, and manage product releases.
- Own integration with external payment partners (Stripe, Adyen, PayPal, bank acquirers, card networks, local payment methods).
- Identify and resolve blockers in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.
Compliance, Risk & Security:
- Ensure solutions meet regulatory, compliance, and industry standards (PCI-DSS, PSD2, SCA, AML/KYC).
- Collaborate with fraud and risk teams to optimize fraud detection and chargeback mitigation. This is an Internal document.

- Implement internal controls, monitoring, alerting, and logging systems for payments.
Stakeholder & Partner Management:
- Serve as the subject-matter expert on payment systems internally.
- Build strong relationships with payment providers, banks, processors, and vendors.
- Communicate product updates, roadmap changes, and performance insights to leadership.
Required:
- 4+ years of experience in product management or technical program management, ideally in payments or fintech.
- Strong understanding of payment processing flows: authorization, capture, settlement, reconciliation, chargebacks, payouts.
- Experience integrating payment gateways, processors, or card networks. - Ability to work with APIs, data structures, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with global payment methods (UPI, SEPA, ACH, wallets, BNPL).
- Familiarity with risk & fraud systems (3DS, network tokenization, device fingerprinting).
- Technical background (Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent).
- Experience in high-growth tech or fintech environments
