Job Title: US Payroll - Team Lead
Location: Pune
Experience: 5-7 Years
Work Mode: Onsite / Hybrid (as per company policy)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled US Payroll Team Lead to manage end-to-end payroll operations, ensure compliance with US federal & state regulations, and lead a payroll team to deliver timely and accurate payroll processing. The ideal candidate will possess strong US payroll knowledge, leadership capabilities, and experience working with payroll platforms and US clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee US payroll processing for multiple cycles ensuring 100% accuracy and compliance
- Monitor federal and state tax laws, payroll tax filings, deductions, benefits, and statutory compliance
- Review W-2s, W-4s, 1099 documentation, payroll reports, and reconciliation files
- Manage and mentor payroll team members, ensuring productivity, training, and performance excellence
- Coordinate with US clients, HR teams, and vendors to address payroll queries and escalations
- Ensure data integrity, employee records accuracy, and payroll audit readiness
- Analyze payroll discrepancies and ensure timely resolution
- Implement payroll process improvements, automation, and best practices
- Maintain adherence to SLA, compliance policies, and confidential information standards
- Prepare payroll MIS and reporting to leadership as required
Required Skillsets:
- Strong knowledge of US payroll laws, federal/state taxation, deductions, and compliance
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Ceridian, or SAP
- Solid understanding of W-2, W-4, 1099 forms and year-end payroll processing
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with US clients & teams
- Ability to manage deadlines, multiple payroll cycles, and high-volume operations
- People management and team leadership skills
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and accuracy
- Knowledge of US payroll certifications (CPP or similar) is a plus
- Basic understanding of Indian payroll and compliance (preferred but not mandatory)
Education:
- Master's/ Bachelor's degree in Finance, HR, Accounting, or related field
- Payroll certifications such as CPP (preferred)
