About the company:
Cloud Finance & Accounting is a digital accountancy practice in the UK, running the full finance function for around 40 growing UK businesses, charities and hospitality groups, with plans to grow further. Services include bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, payments, month-end management accounts and annual budgets, all on Xero. Our delivery team works remotely from India and Poland.
The role:
Reporting to the COO, you own the India team's output: every client's monthly work, from the weekly bookkeeping to the month-end pack, delivered complete, correct and on the agreed date. You review the work before it goes to the UK account managers, you plan who does what and who covers whom, and you develop a team of 4+ accountants.
This is a delivery role, not a client-facing one. Our UK account managers own the client relationship and the commercial conversation. You own the client deliverables, the numbers being right and on time. This role is not a client portfolio. It is for you if you want to run a team that delivers to a high standard every month, with technical and responsibility opportunities for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities:
- Hold the team's monthly timetable and deliver high-quality output to every deadline.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations, P&L analysis, VAT and payroll against our documented standards, and feed findings back so the same error is not made twice.
- Plan capacity and cover so holidays and sickness never cost a client a deadline.
- Run weekly 1-1s and a development plan for each team member.
- Keep our procedures current with the people who use them and induct new starters.
- Own the team's weekly scoreboard on deadlines, review findings and open items.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in accounting, with three or more on UK clients in an outsourcing or offshore practice.
- Experience managing a team of three or more on UK work: allocating, reviewing, covering absence.
- Strong Xero. Dext and a practice workflow tool (Karbon, Senta or similar) are a plus.
- CA, ACCA or CIMA, qualified or finalist.
- Fluent written English. Most of what you produce is written.
- Able to work at least five hours a day inside UK office hours, for example 11:00 to 19:30 IST, with flexibility at month-end.
What we offer:
- INR 18 to 23 lakh per annum (GBP 14,000 to 18,000) depending on experience, paid monthly in GBP on a direct contractor agreement.
- Fully remote, with quality IT equipment provided.
- A documented way of working so you are running a system, not inventing one.
- A small senior team who will give you the authority and support the role needs.
- An innovative environment and the chance to use best-in-class technology.
How to apply:
Apply with your CV and a short note covering: your UK accounting experience, the largest team you have supervised and how you reviewed their work, your current and expected pay, notice period, and the hours you can work in UK time. We reply to everyone. The process is a 30-minute video call, a practical review exercise on a sample month-end, then a conversation with our COO and CEO.
